Ho, you young whipper snappers. Don't you remember how Rossi used to qualify last every race and then The Doctor and Burgess would sit down the night before the race and carve special grooves into the tyres in the shape of the circuit. The next day Rossi would carve his way through the pack and win the race and the championship. Those were the days. I honestly don't know what has gotten into young people these days.

@ Shamarone,

That's classical Rossi indeed nullifying a bad start with race skills, but this could be a championship fought over single digit points, and starting too often from low in the grid might prevent Rossi from fighting for that position he would have been fighting by starting in front row (in Qatar it was the 1st, here it might be, I don't know.. 3rd or 4th).

At this competitive level and At 34 he doesn't have that edge anymore on the competition where he can start wherever he wants on the grid without giving up some valuable points at the end of the season...

Mike Metcalf -said
" in the last race Cal crashed" Cal dint crash in Qatar, he went wide right after Rossi passed him, ran it up on the rumble strips where it was too dirty to brake and had to go straight in trun one b/c of it, he lost time, but he did not truf it that was his team mate... Cal got 5th, and I thought he had a great race, Im hopeing he does well here, he has shown that he has the pace and the balls too...

@Max

"Hasn't Qatar taught you anything about Rossi's determination or his pedigree? He won't be a contender on this track, gap is far too big. Cometh race day he'll still finish 4th or 5th. "

When there are only 4 genuine factory machines on the grid, 4th or 5th is not saying much. Actually, 5th would be downright embarassing. Anything short of competing with his teammate at each event and defeating him half the time would be sub-par. Rossi is on his way to 0-2 on that measure. I'm hoping for much better from him when they get to Europe and he has Lorenzo's 2012 data to help get him started at each event.

mike metcalfe, trumpy craig & the rest of you Crutchlow warshippers: according to reliable sources at the track, he
IS on a factory spec Yamaha!.
'he should have Rossi's ride'- you must be kidding!
2 (two) 3rd place podiums in two years on the best handling bike in motogp!!!
His 2yr record compared to Lorenzo:
JLo 8 wins, 16 second places, 610 points
Crutch: 0 wins, 0 second places, 2 thirds, 221 point
DO THE MATH!

Cal deserves Rossi's seat?? How funny..??

If cal was there in Yamaha the team would have more talented, but won't have deep pocket to develop the bike, because no Rossi no title sponsor... yamaha was the best bike in 2010 and now its honda,, why? Yamaha desperately wanted Rossi back as lorenzo could not attract a title sponsor...
