Best riders in Moto GP in 2013 on current form:

1 Jorge Lorenzo
2 Marc Marquez
3 Cal Crutchlow
4 Dani Pedrosa
5 Andrea Dovizioso
6 Aleix Espargaro
7 Valentino Rossi
8 Stefan Bradl
9 Alvaro Bautista
10 Nicky Hayden

Put them all on the same bike and that is roughly where they would finish IMO.

"Beaten by a rookie, beaten by a satellite Yamaha and beaten by his teammate.

Rossi who?
I''ll help you there, that'l be Valentino Rossi the 9 time world champ, ok?

To put things in perspective.......Rossi had a poor Qually, his team (JB) found something in warm up as usual. They changed something and it worked, unfortunately they decided to increase what they found and it turned out that it made the bike worse. So Rossi was on a poor handling bike which was later excacerbated by a chip coming off of his front disk.
As to the age issue the guy is older but there is nothing wrong with his level of fitness. In both races so far he has set his fastest laps late in the race. Everyone else has done it in the first 3 or 4 laps.

It seems that Rossi and his team are still learning to adapt the bike, and at the moment are behind Jorge's team in this..

I'm not sure with such a polarised fan base that there can be a fair, unbiased and objective opinion/assessment of any of the riders.
There is no doubt that Valentino has had a stellar career but then so might a few others with all the benefits afforded him. I just hope that he manages to resurrect something of the class he once entertained us all with and retires with a little glory for all his loyal fans to remember.
This weekend may have just been a bad day at the office.
BTW I for one don't like registering for anything, you always seem to end up on a gazillion databases trying to sell snake oil or somesuch!

@ Vicarious

I disagree. I believe that fairness and objectivity comes down to the individual intelligence level of the person/people doing the critiquing. Many people here are both fair and objective, but most are not (..and those are the people that we largely disregard or don't take serious). Looking at it objectively, Pedrosa and Lorenzo (..and Marquez as he begins his ascent in the premier class) have also been “afforded the same benefits” by landing factory rides out of the box. They've also put in work in the lower classes to deserve what they've been given.

P.S. LOL @ the snake oil comment. No kidding right!?

To take the other side, I said Rossi should be able to get 3-4 in Qatar, I didn't and still don't believe he can compete with Jorge. It turned out the honda's had problems there (you could compare Rossi's COTA to Dani's Qatar minus the brake problem). Rossi himself said that without the brake problem he still would not have been able to run with Cal or Jorge.

If you don't proclaim Vale the greatest ever or a guaranteed winner you become a hater to the throngs of fans that lack objectivity at least as much as the true haters.

Every champion has been riding around problems, I think we need a race with all 4 bikes on it to really gauge the pecking order. Can Mark take it to Jorge. Can Dani fight back and beat his team mate, can Vale beat any of them when they are having a good day? All questions that should be answered soon.

With the most experienced tam in the paddock that have been working together for ages they certainly should get their act together and sort the bike out fast

@rolling stoner

cause Cal was never there, had no data after 3 days of testing as Rossi hadd and was on old yama far, far better than the yellow
rossi can ride ONLY on best machine, otherwise he is only mid pack.
MM is on other league than Rossi, as Casey was. MM and CS can ride arround problems, maybe Casey a little better than MM
Im happy for Duc, I think in4-5 races Dovi will finish ahead of quitter. After the best developer quitted, Ducati could start with development.

@ Billace

To add to what you said, with the top 4 being so damn close, the pecking order will literally just come down to the track, and who has the best set-up for that particular track. It's really, really difficult to call the season at this point because of the depth of talent up front.

WOW! truely incredible...Rossi's making excuse's....first race was a dont win 7 world titles by fluke...but heres another theory for you all...ready....HE JUST HAD A BAD RACE! happens..sometime you dont gel with a track...sometimes you cant get a set up that works for you..its happened to every racer at one point or another...i can promise you that doohen, sheene, spencer, etc etc all had bad race's at some point due to set up issues, ok he wasnt on his team mates pace all weekend, he has even said that without the disc issue he wouldnt of just get a grip on race does not make a championship..good or bad.
