Lorenzo 2, Rossi 0. When he starts competing with his team mate, that will be the sign he is back to the Rossi of old. Texas was an abysmal showing. Qatar was a nice ride, and had the yellow brigade all a-quiver, but it was a Yamaha track this year and he was still 6 seconds off the other guy on the same bike. I'm hoping we'll see Rossi show some competitiveness for the first time this year when the racing moves to Jerez.

@ Claes......Hi....like you I don't really bother with what his fans say. The difference, as I see it, is that they will predict future successes for him, I prefer to wait and see.

The point that I was trying to make, poorly it seems, was Rossi and his team have spent 2 years trying to dial in an untuneable Ducati. They are now in the process of adapting the Yamaha to Rossi's riding style. Cota is a new track so no data from previous years, and Jorge's team are doing a better job so far, albeit with 2 years head start.

Rossi had a bad weekend but his fastest lap on a poorly handling bike (they went too far with a setting) and worn tyres (lap 13) was only a couple of tenths or so off of Lorenzo's set on lap 3.

@Martin (not Whitmarsh) "Put them all on the same bike and that is roughly where they would finish IMO."

Haha...Most of them would fall off! Especially when you drop the clutch...
Maybe you mean "Put them all on identical bikes...", but the literal version is funnier.

Hi
@Codger
They did hava data from testing, although in heinsight they should probably have stayed the last day if they are so behind don't you think like the Hondas? He had a very bad weekend and it was not the bike it was just I don't know they might have lost it, I wish he will be higher to create better racing and I think he will, but no WC for Rossi don't think so I hope MM gets it but I think JL does it again we'll see:)

We're only 2 races in and its, JL 2 - VR - 0

And Rossi has already been beaten by a less experienced guy on a satellite bike.

Ooooops.

Dovi may be the next one to show him up. Salt in wounds anyone?

Hey Dave.
Only 2 races in and Rossi is only 11 points adrift of the leaders.
All that after spending 2 years on a less than ordinary bike.
And Dave have any of the Ducati's beaten Rossi yet? Oooops.

@Immediate Effect - Even then, put them all on the same bike and only two will come out on top, Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez. Why? Because they are all on the same bike and each of them have to battle it out and no one could easily get away.

Really? Rossi is on the same bike and he can't get within 1 second of Lorenzo in qualifying ... 1.3 seconds in Austin!!!!? ..... and has yet to get close enough to even smell a cruising Lorenzo's exhaust fumes in a race.

Sounds like Lorenzo easily getting away to me. Why would life get any easier for Rossi if all the rest are on factory M1s too?
