re: "To me - Dovi looks more comfortable on the Ducati & more confident on it than VR did."

i'll buy this for a dollar.

Prepare or flaming! How much of Dovi's confidence is due to the bike being better now than it was when Rossi first got the bike or has Dovi completely sorted it himself? Would it be better to go back to the start and let Dovi sort it all out again. You see the reason I ask this is that the only bikes Dovi has ridden in the top bracket are in fact bikes that yes you have guessed it sorted out FACT! and nobody can deny that... can they?

@ jambop

Before you guys flame jambop (..because I know the Rossi haters will), take the time to listen to the question that he's asking. He makes a point. I'd bet that the bike feels better to Dovi because certain aspects of it have been made more comfortable by Rossi's involvement (..not to be confused with "sorted out", "fixed", "made into a championship contender", etc.). It is merely a bit easier for a front-end rider to ride now.

In all truth it's kinda difficult to compare rossi to stoner on the ducati and dovi to rossi e.t.c. The bike changes a bit every year, the tyres will also change slightly, so will the competition and so will riders' ability. To be fair, i think Dovi is doing a good job on the ducati, hayden is clearly struggling entering his 6th/7th? season on it. Lets not forget it's only the second race, in my opinion i can't see dovi getting it on the podium unless it rains or something unusual happens to the front runners. But fair play to the kid, he's definitely a talented rider!

Lol! Dovi fights for 7th and you're all praising him as a hard working rider and being 'up there'.

Then last year Rossi manages mostly 5ths and 6ths here and there with 2 podiums, and you call him the worst rider on the grid. confirmed for worst posters

@ nikisan

Yeah, it's unfortunate that the objectivity and praise is largely misdirected and biased. Rossi had one hell of a battle to 2nd in the wet in one of those races (and an good run to 2nd in the dry), and people gave him slack. If Dovi manages to put that bike on the podium, I'm positive that people will hail him "better than Rossi" and all of the other superlatives to match.

its not the trellis, remember Ducati had their pick of tires when they were running the older frame, when they were forced to run on Yam spec tires they have gone backwards, where is Yam's motor vs the Duc's oh yeah, completely opposite side of the bike...

The tires are what are holding the bike back, but if they can copy Honda, they will be able to break Yamaha if they can manage to engineer the bike completely through setup. Yam & Honda have a lot more data than Duc, and as long as Duc are running their motor on the rear it's going no where with those tires.
