"You [Schwantz] were a great rider, super spectacular, but always in the shade, first of Eddie Lawson and then Wayne Rainey" - Alberto Puig.

the facts are that of all the top competitors at the time that schwantz was doing battle, he was using the worse bike on the grid by a LONG SHOT.

Not only that but the updates and development of the suzuki against both hondas and yamahas was a total joke, kevin did miracle on the pepsi suzuki, and that is a fact.

"As a former champion and legend, Schwantz....."

He was a former champion, but never was and never is a legend. Exactly like Casey Stoner. The fans who label these two as "legends" are those who always cheers for the "small guy". Unfortunately, that only happens in the movies. IMHO, riders who fall short of three championships are just former champions and never a legend. Riders who have legendary status are Mick Doohan, Mike Hailwood, Agostini, Angel Nieto, Valentino Rossi, John Surtees, or Phil Reed. Some of these guys have to race three times in a weekend and that's how they amazed so many championships (not just race wins). These riders to me are the legends. The rest just picks up the pieces.

When is Dani's contract up? If Marc finishes ahead of Dani, he may still have one or two more years left on the squad. HRC know they have the future with Marc & Dani will start to be phased over to their clear #2 rider. However, there is a benefit to a team mate who is capable of beating the other teams competition, but not the teams #1. The manufacturers & team championships are also something HRC desire.

I think anyone who watched Schwantz race knows he deserves to be called a legend, I also know if Puig wants to compare stats, he ought to compare his own too. Schwantz has 25 times as many wins as Puig on a 500.

I don't like the term "legend", esp when used as a noun. Here's the definition:

Noun
A traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated.

Adjective
Very well known: "his speed was legend".

Synonyms
fable - story - tale - inscription - myth.

The key being "historical", but "not authenticated". Folks opinions are like a$$holes, & often times they stink. Lol!

I thought this artical was funny postedon Moto Matters kina makes you wonder what would make them say this
"But there is one detail which is blocking any deal which Pedrosa may be considering. Both Honda and Yamaha have said that they would welcome Pedrosa with open arms, but they will not accept the presence of Alberto Puig in the garage, according to the Spanish website Motoworld. The contract which HRC presented to Pedrosa reportedly contained the condition that Puig would no longer be welcome in the Repsol Honda garage, a condition which caused Pedrosa to refuse to sign it. Similarly, when Jorge Lorenzo flirtation with Honda caused Pedrosa to put out feelers to Yamaha, one of the conditions demanded by Yamaha was that Puig would not be involved."

To be honest, I think Pedrosa has been very unlucky. First he was on the verge of winning a world championship and had a season ending injury. Then he got Casey, now Marquez.

I seriously hope he wins a World Championship.

Take the drama out of it and look at the stats. I'm liking Pedrosa more lately and I think that's because Puig influenced is waning and DP still has time to win the title. Puig however should STFU. He showed his high water mark in intelligence with his remarks about Hayden being torpedoed by DP was Hayden's fault. Very strange little dude.

There is only one legend in this sport and that is Casey Stoner. The only rider who could tame the only bike the bike that defines MotoGP. Stoner is a legend and no one else. Agostini, Nieto, Rossi, Doohan, or Schwantz have not ridden or won on the Ducati. So they cannot be legends and they definitely cannot be the GOAT.
