MotoGP » Dovizioso: Ducati completely different

“The Desmosedici GP13 is completely different from the bikes I've ridden in the past, which is fine for me” – Andrea Dovizioso.

I'm very impressed with Dovizioso's approach and results so far this year. It's a shame Honda didn't make a place for him to continue with them this season. But perhaps in time it will be to his advantage if Ducati's technical shake-up yields a super fast bike next year. It could happen.

@ nealio

AD Got his Fair chances on the Factory Honda and he did nothing significant out there.

n sharpen ur memory. He was offered a Factory kit Honda in satellite colors which he had denied.

AD can do a 1 lap wonder in qualifying but on Sunday, Ducati still have a lots of work to do!

Let's review the nothing that Dovizioso has done in the last few seasons. In 2010 Pedrosa bested him at Honda and he only finished fifth in the championship. In 2011 along side Casey and Pedrosa he finished third in the championship. Having beat Pedrosa he felt being sent off to a privateer team showed that there was no factory team future for him at Honda and took the chance to prove himself on a Yamaha at Tech3 hoping his performance might lead to a factory ride the following year. In 2012 he finished fourth in the championship besting Crutchlow and being the first non-factory rider in the championship. His performance did lead to a factory ride, not with Yamaha which he would have preferred, but with Ducati. Considering the fact that you can't win the championship without a factory's support he has shown faith in himself and is gambling that Ducati can turn things around.
Yeah, he really looks like an untalented loser.

To be fair to Dovi, he's riding well and consistantly beating Hayden in races (where have we seen that before?) But the Ducati is as far up the sharp end as its going to get barring someone doing something stupid in front of him or mechanical failure. Yes it is different from anything he's ridden before, everything else corners.

As previously said, Dovi already had 3 years on a factory honda and had only 1 win in '09 to show for it. (that was his only podium that year). he was a regular podium contender and finisher but never had that little extra to make him a consistent race winner on a bike that was obviously capable of winning. Still very impressive what he did in 2012 though and if it weren't for rossi coming back to yamaha, surely he would have been top in the running to ride alongside lorenzo.
