Lorenzo made a mistake and Marquez followed by another mistake by taking the line he took. He actually stopped the bike on Lorenzo's bike. Exciting moment to be honest but the truth is that it was the result of each rider making his own mistake. Pedrosa was phenomenal today. Nice pass on Lorenzo too! If Rossi can mix it at some point soon this championship will be one of the best ever!

Rossi shouldn't be trashed for finishing 4th, regardless of how far back and uncompetitive he was on one of the 4 bikes that can win.

On the other hand, many fans promised a storm to the front and win because he has superior race craft and is better on Sunday. This is one his best tracks too.

Race craft doesn't matter if you don't have the pace to be closer to the front. He was in the mix at the first turn but does not have the speed of the front three. I don't think Rossi slowed, I think three others have gotten faster. We have almost 2 seasons to see if he can up his pace or if Cal, Bradl, Ducati or anyone else can do the same, I doubt it will happen but you never know.

Not read further than page 6.
People saying race incident, there are rules now for wreckless behavior. Although racing we all know what Marquez did in Moto2 to a couple of guys only during free practice he knocked them off. If I were Dorna I would have a talk with Marquez, this is his third race as a rookie race win during his second race 2nd spot in race three. When Marquez gets to familiar with his bike his fear disappears and this makes him dangerous not only for himself but also to others. Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith were knocked off by Marc and he escaped penalties since albeit he has a Spanish passport they should bring him to a halt. People are all so enthusiastic about him walking away with him that he's so good. He caused very bad crashes people are not thinking about that.

@dr who, what? I remember the pol crash at barcelona last year and when there was talk of marquez getting a penalty, stoner, rossi, crutchlow and lorenzo all said it was a racing incident. The others can't compete with him, just think of valencia 2012

Thanks for your insights. I don't know about promising, but time and time again Rossi has showed that he is better on Raceday. Like in Qatar. Today wasn't as good as many of the fans hoped, but still better than his qualifying result. As for Jlo, he did worse on raceway. Should he retire also?

I don't think there is a great comparison of this incident to the Rossi-Gibernau last lap in 2005. Gibernau passed and clipped Rossi, Rossi passed and clipped Gibernau, etc, it was great racing. When Rossi passed Gibernau in the final corner, he actually took and held a racing line. Marquez hadn't a hope of making the corner and passing Lorenzo, even though the door was open he was too far back, he just ran in deep until he hit him.
Rossi and Gibernau were evenly matched and swapped places and paint half a dozen times in as many corners. Marquez was struggling to keep the bike in line in previous corners, and couldn't make a pass.
At least this result mixes things up a bit, but there still wasn't much racing going on at the front.
One positive outcome could be a feud between Lorenzo and Marquez that will let Dani win the championship he deserves. More likely is that Lorenzo will spout some bland psychobabble and move on.

I see a lot of posts saying Rossi should retire. I ask why? He was only 8 seconds behind the winner. Here is a question should Dovi retire? I see he was 41 seconds adrift of the winner FSS! The answer is of course NO! He had a bad race simples, not saying Rossi had a bad race but to be only 8 seconds adrift and have people questioning whether you should continue racing or not is laughable. If Rossi has to retire because he is fourth and only about 0.2 seconds a lap slower than the winner then there are a lot of riders who should not be racing end off!
