In this day of gender equality the idea of not defending yourself against an aggressive woman is stupid. If a woman has a handful of your hair or has you in a squirrel grip or is trying to scratch your eyes out then you have every right in the world to use physical means to protect yourself. Who said he even hit her? He simply could have grabbed her wrists or got her in a hold to prevent further damage to himself. But since the details of the injuries are not public knowledge it is all speculation. Not caring what a highly paid sportsman does outside of the sport is naive in the extreme. Teams rely on sponsorship. A sponsor does not want their brand name associated with criminals. Sportsman are also targets of hero worship by younger people. They need to understand that being good at a sport does not negate the need to fit in with societies morals.

All these guys saying u have the right to defend yourself from abusive women... You also have the right to walk away... Be a real man and dont use physical force (doesn't matter if it is a male or female). if he can ride a motogp bike he can handle a few girl-hits while he walks away without lowering himself to her level.

We are not in possesion of the facts of the matter so it is not our place to judge.
I am only concerned about what Barbera does on the track. What he does in private is not my concern or my business.
