It's not JUST about the final position, but how competitive his race and final position was. Dovi put that bike at the front of the field and fought to keep it up there right in the mix for most of the race. This wasn't a distant 4th but a fighting 4th. There's a BIG difference. Cracking ride Dovi! Hayden rode well too.

@talent fan
leaving aside any rider loyalty here can you explain your post above? Last year Rossi started from 7th on the grid and finnished 2nd passing 5 riders on the way and being passed by no one. He finnished behind the current world campion and in front of the then world champion Casey Stoner. Today Dovi Started from third and finished 4th behind a satallite Yamaha and a first year rookie, who as racing in his first motogp race in the wet. He was passed by two riders and dropped a place. Why is his a fighting fourth and what was Rossi's second if not a fighting second having passed five riders which included TWO works Honda's, the world champion and in the process both Dovi and Crutchlow. An explaination would be ineresting it really would I think.

@Codger.
I'm sad to say you're right about Dovi he'll never be an alien By the same token @ Talent Fan is also correct Dovi did fight to the bitter end.
Still as a Ducati fan I live in hope of a fully fit crazy Joe coming to terms with the beast I still think he's the best bet.
