Sad to say but Vale almost ruling himself out of the win is not a good thing... and shows us where he believes he's at right now.

A sunny Jerez and wet Le Mans were also golden opportunities for VR and he just didn't perform like we might have expected - its a shame, but the glory days seem to be over :(

I would LOVE to be proven wrong...

@ Claes...I've always thought of Dani and Casey's style as very similar. Stand the bike up and throw yourself off the side. MM is different, throw the bike on it's side and put your elbow on the track.

@ The Fisherman.

No one? Two words: Marc Marquez.

He's as fast as Stoner but better cause he's not affraid of close racing. In a Stoner - Marquez battle you can bet my money would be on Marquez.

@Astro Boy

Does Doohan have a championship on the Ducati? No? he must have been rubbish then! Your logic makes no sense...

Just watch out for MM, he's still a rookie but he'll do better than Stoner for sure. Pity Stoner retired, in a few years I don't think he'll be remembered as anything more than a one hit wonder .

'Ducati yardstick'

Interesting comment, I suspect that, and quite succesfully, you are being, deliberately, a little provocative.
It does beg the question though, is this the closest we are likely to get to a comparison. We will all draw our own conclusions.

@93
did M Doohan ever ride ducati?why would people expect he could have won on the bike then(what a silly question you have).Like one on here insinuated if CS had won on Yamaha.CS would have won on Yamaha and there wouldn't have consequently been such a never ending rant triggered by Ducati enigma had Rossi not blocked CS's entry back by the end of season 2006.PERIOD!

however we look at it it is clear that Rossi has lost his sparkle...there is all this talk about electronics, different riding styles, more acceleration on the edge and more corner speed as there was a couple of years ago....maybe...but maybe also absolutely normal for someone trying to compete with racers who are in average 10 years younger than him....he was always very strong mentally and i think he has lost alot in that area, I think he simply accepts the fact that he cannot win anymore ...which is very very bad...I am sorry for not having him at the top because the races are alot more boring this way...Marquez might be the one who will bring the show back but that remains to be confirmed...motogp has changed, Rossi has changed we must all accept this....if I will still follow motogp , that is another question...
