There are some on here that suggest Cal would never get the factory ride, because Dovi didn't last year after some decent results on the tech3. With Rossi in the mix that was never going to happen, a no brainer. However, I do believe if Rossi does call it a day at he end of the season, which I doubt, then the factory team would have to look at Cal.
However, if Yam, as reported, are to field a third factory spec bike in the form of a tech3 intended for Pol Espagaro, I believe Cal would be better off on that bike and let the young Spaniard take Rossi's seat, given the luck, or the way the 2nd factory bike has performed over the last few seasons.
All ifs, buts and maybe's though.
