Point are given in the race not during QP. What if Rossi is only doing damage control, try to be as close as he can be to the leading group?
Rossi's racepace is acceptable, and although they said hot temperatures will suit the Honda's more I would say 2 Yamaha's in the top 3 during QP ain't bad.
Racepace would be a mid 1.42 Cal, Lorenzo and Rossi can manage that so I don't see any problems. I can remember an article of Mr. Spies telling that his bike was not equal to Lorenzo's bikes. What if Yamaha did the same to Rossi?

With a couple of races underway the best race so far with a good battle for a podium is still Qatar where Rossi stole the show. The rest of the races the winners made a gap and that was the race. Maybe I'm brainless, but I'm proud I can remember Oz 2003, Assen 2007, Laguna 08, Barcelona 09. Remember what happened at those races? I guess you forgot but it has something to do with Rossi being the star of the show.

@ondablade........I can't agree that Rossi has frequently been beaten by the Ducatis.
Despite falling off twice, Rossi is ahead of Nicky in the points and only 3 points behind Dovi.
Neither of the Ducati riders have gained as many points as Rossi did on the Ducati after 5 races.

Rossi isn't doing too well as we all know but it helps to stick with the facts when discussing him.

Except for Dani there isn't a lot between the next group. The 'first lap' sorting out should be fun, but let's hope they all stay on.

If Dani disappears, it will be a great scrap for the podium places.

I don't understand why all the buzz about Rossi's pace. He and his crew chief have confessed that his level is not as of Lorenzo or Dani. And it is evident in his qualifying. Though the qualifying format is different, I am sure Rossi has not forgotten to make one fast lap,

Great lap Dani. Keep up the focus and get the job done tomorrow. All the best!!!!

I am constantly surprised how any thread, no matter what the topic, comes to be dominated with comments about Rossi. Now don't get me wrong, Rossi is THE rider of the modern age, but I'm afraid he is never going to be a world champion again. Face it.

Staying on the subject of the thread, fantastic pole ride by Dani....I'd love to see him clinch the title this year. I firmly believe a lot of folks don't like him because he's a quiet unassuming kind of rider...he just gets on with it.

Superb ride by Cal too.

@GOATse Thats true Dani and Jorge has no fight back..Once they take the lead...they put flying laps in a row.....but they won't battle sometimes dani and Jlo battle themselves.....Marc and rossi may start from the 2nd and 3rd row but they are gonna be the threat for the front row

It's not a big issue C and i certainly don't want to start another is/isn't discussion - but all i was referring to was that VR has this year consistently not had the pace to be the contender a top works team rider should be.

There's little sign that it's coming either.

There's times he's flattered to deceive by pushing hard in free practice before the quick guys were going for lap times.

The issue is the yawning gap between the hype and the reality - he's delivering an actual level of performance which struggles to even break clear of the second team bikes and the Ducatis.

The continuing hype has ignored and continues to ignore this reality, and has the unfortunate effect of risking the easeing racing from the reality based sport it's always been towards something more like power rangers/professional wrestling - a costume drama for kids.

This comes at the expense of other riders - guys giving their all but not receiving credit or opportunities as a result.

Do we really want th
