MotoGP » Crutchlow: A great battle until the end

'It was a great battle right to the end and once again I showed my speed and I was close to finishing second and that would have matched my best result in MotoGP' - Cal Crutchlow

it's amazing how the Yamaha riders are so strong this weekend. Imagine how the championship would be now had Dovi decided to stay with Tech 3. As a matter of fact, put Hayden on a Tech 3 Yamaha and I am sure he could be a podium contender each weekend. Good job Cal.

No doubt Cal will take flak for his usual poor start and for again not showing his best pace until the later stages. Definitely his two major weaknesses.

The significant thing here though is that he has finally shown that he is capable of 'alien' race pace, and that he can be considered a genuine threat to the factory riders in races instead of just qualifying. That's a pretty big positive to take away despite any missed opportunities.

Has anybody noticed how when Cal is giving interviews lately, his attempt to make his speech clearer to understand, he's also getting a bit of a Spanish or Italian accent when he does it? Just watched an interview with him at MotoGP.com. Funny!

Great job todau Cal! Keep it up

re: "Reflecting on his final lap scrape with Marquez, Crutchlow said both riders had been 'lucky'."

ok, but what happened...? there's no way you were making a pass attempt from 5 lengths back. that would've been the mother of all hail marys...!!! a bautista move and we know you're smarter than that.

so was there a brake problem...? marquez park in the corner like he was going for chips...? what the frick was that...?

Don-R. Cal isn't as good in the first few laps due to the position of the fuel tank. Rossi and Lorenzo's fuel tank is lower and further towards the rear. Crutchlow doesn't have that and that makes turning the bike with a full tank harder. When the fuel gets used up it gets better.

I'm not a Crutchlow fan, BUT.......that dude rode superb race today (...reminded me of Rossi at Qatar the way he stalked everybody aggressively). It was actually exciting to watch him put in the laps today, AND I'd say that his performance was the 2nd best thing about Assen this weekend.
