The thing is, such talent used to find its way into the premier class, yet now there is a relative dearth of top level riders from the US, UK and Australia, and I think it's not for lack of potential but because riders from these countries go down a superbike route instead. I believe that of course it is up to these countries to catch up, but the frustration is because they clearly have the resources to do so.

I must emphasise, I'm not worried about the present situation as these things are cyclical, more about the potential for the situation to carry on.

The thing that sets this Spanish era apart is that whilst at the beginning of the 990 era we had Rossi, Capirossi and Biaggi with Italy showing the way, guys like Pedrosa, Stoner and Lorenzo were on the horizon who weren't Italian. The current Spanish domination of the lower classes in addition to the top class is an unprecedented and admirable feat, but its extent suggests that other nations are falling behind.

hate to give the impression that I have a fundamental problem with it being a "Spanish Championship", I merely want Moto GP to be a credible world championship, and the best way to generate widespread interest from countries is when a rider from that country has success. I do completely agree that this is not something that the Spanish or the owners of Moto GP can be blamed for.
