Sorry to labour the point but what would his stats look like if they still had the 350cc class.

Some credit should go to Micky D and Casey as well, all their figures were from the top class.
Look at :-
motogp.com.......'Riders All Time'
for a truer picture of who warrants a mention in the goat list.

His record speaks for itself really - but like many others have said - it isnt all about his winning/success. The best thing about Vale is his attitude towards the fans and sport in general - he is truly a legend and I am so pleased I got to live through his career, and had the chance to cheer him on!

@ herewego

Now that you've put my feet to the fire, I'm not sure that I can produce an answer for you. I have no idea what I'd say, but something would come out of my mouth. LOL! I know that I'd ask more about his personal life, other goals, etc....questions about whether or not he'd go "auto" if he could do it all over again. Stuff like that.

@ lux: Thanks, it happens to me when I get a bit emotional. You know, I started following the sport around 2002. Naturally I'd support the underdogs and so he became a major nuisance to me. In 2003 he was unbelievable and race antic after race antic, post-race antic after post-race antic and smile after smile he finally won me over.
