I wonder if it would pay Yamaha and Honda to have a chinwag and (secretly) agree not to race Pedrosa or Lorenzo at Laguna Seca?

Sure they'll give away 16-25 points to Marquez IF he doesn't fall but, the gamble that Marquez will have another race fall during the rest of the seasion might be worth it going into the winter break...

re: "I will stick my neck out here and say that Jorge will be back for Laguna."

not sure if it's even his decision any more...? Yamaha's already footed a hefty bill for ace jet pilots and world class surgeons.

contract may only allow him 1x to make the choice he made. if it pays off, great. but this one didn't, so a 2x and 3x chance...?

yeah, I don't see Yamaha being that desperate as to sacrifice a human beings health on the alter of MotoGP.

it is after all just a trophy. you can't keep operating on a body like a Dr. Frankenstein. there are moral and Hippocratic limits. this ain't blood sport.

hell, you can leave out the "cloak and dagger". there's nothing to hide. it's better PR just to come out and say it. who's gonna be the jerk to point THAT finger...?

I just figure that both riders not participating on health grounds would make little difference in the championship ladder, with Marquez being the only fly in the ointment.

Considering the long term investments the teams make in their riders and it would help Yamaha save one race weekends worth of work on Lorenzo's motor.

It'd be worth Yamaha dropping Honda a line and asking the question.
