honestly, he didn't even really need to do that pass. not there anyway. I think it was just to make a point. the 213 is far and away the superior kit at Laguna. almost can't get arrested speeding past the CHP on an M1 now. and that's tough if you know anything about the highway patrol on MotoGP weekend.

"marcus" could've easily passed him at any number of other (easier) locations around the track. now that suppo's weighed in, it seems YES they had been planning this. at a minimum, the possibility had at least been discussed in advance of this weekend.

Its a cockscrew pass but not the as epic as it was in 2008,, there Rossi aggressively went and tugged himself underneath stoner and found no other way except to cut through the gravel,, but here marc was already in front just before the gravel entry but Rossi's block made him to cut through the gravel, else marc would have ran on the tarmac. Or may be Rossi himself wanted to see his own move made against him.

2008 Rossi was passing a bike that way faster than his bike, but here faster bike made the pass and its just normal that happens everywhere. Even if Rossi did that to marc, marc would not have moaned like stoner for years...

A rookie doing this is just making us amazed... Legend in the making, keep going marc,,

Not quite the same pass. The reason Stoner was pissed off is that after Rossi cut the corner he nearly collected Stoner. Anyway Great ride from Marquez, stamping his authority.

@Guna4699, it has been well documented that the bike casey was riding in 2008 was rubbish compared to the Yamaha. What you mean to say was "Rossi was passing a rider that was way faster than himself" :P

did anyone notice that an extra piece of asphalt was laid exactly where MM passed? that uses to be a gravel trap in 08 that when 46 passed through lots of dust and sand flew (and one spec into stoner's engine causing the engine halt).

i'd say the corkscrew was screwed from it's original design (now 1 meter wider).

How long can a myth be perpetuated? The corkscrew move was NEVER the contentious issue for Stoner at LS'08 but I guess it always generates comments.
Today was actually a much more dangerous move from Rossi on Marquez. Rossi released the brakes so much to push MM wide that he himself ran both wheels off the track and personally I think it deserves more scrutiny from race direction.
As for their mutual respect? When you look at the massive difference in their performances this year along with MM's obvious snowballing celebrity, it would be foolish of Rossi to show his true feelings about being hammered into the pavement by a rookie.
Rossi's a player and knows the score but I'll be surprised if we don't see cracks appearing before the end of the season.
