It's funny! I said on twitter the other night when I had a few beers I side me that I was missing Stoner in MotoGP which is strange as I haven't liked him since 2008 bit things change.

If we had let's say, Rossi (back on top form next year) Marquez, Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Crutchlow & Stoner (if he returns) all battling it out for the 2014 world title next year, wow what a championship that would be.

Obviously Marc is the future but I would imagine that given the option the guys that were with Stoner since his Ducati days would want to be in Stoners corner again. Assuming that Stoner came back.
However if Marc had to get another crew who would be available and who actually has experience with a championship winning GP rider and how would Marc go with another crew, the difference between a champion and a top rider is the complete package not necessarily one element. I'd imagine Rossi would feel like a duck out of water if Burgess weren't in his corner along with a few other guys.

In one way it's surprising that Honda have agreed (or did they offer?) a testing ride for Casey. What can be in it for them? He can give feedback as well as anyone but there are others who are still riding that can do that.
If they are hoping to tempt him back to race, again, what would be in it for Honda? They already have guys that can win and they already have the Championship lead.
They don't need the publicity, they have that in abundance with the Hotshot.
Casey, for whatever reasons, let Ducati down by going on a sabbatical and didn't appear to worry about them or the sponsors. It bit him hard, they tried to replace him with Jorge.
He also let Honda down by announcing his retirement so early in the year, after denying it a week before.

Speculation is fun but surely it's just a matter of why would Casey even consider testing the production bike, he didn't want MotoGP 'dumbed down' and said he would quit if it was.

More to it than meets the eye, or just a grabbing a chance for s
