Ah, Ducati, where promising riders go to fade gently into irrelevance. I've never liked Cal, for a reason I can't explain, but I must admit this season he has stepped up. I understand the financial part, and I own a Duc and understand the glory of the marque and all that, but I can't see this being anything but a step backwards. Reminds me a bit of Ben Spies--talented rider, slowish start in MotoGP, then appears poised for a breakthrough, then...to Ducati on the way to Nowhere.

To all you doom mongers perhaps Cal will the one who will muscle and control the Ducati just like Casey Stoner,
I admire Cal's courage as he has always said he wanted a factory ride.
With Dorna in control it was always going to be that Pol Espargaro would be in Moto Gp next season.
We just need to get Sam Lowes there now and in the future Kyle Ryde.

doesnt matter if he wins every race or finishes at the ar$e end of every race. he is getting factory coin for the next two years and could easily retire if he wants to. good luck to the guy. dovi is already on record saying he is so proud he can buy houses etc for his family. he is in a win win, no one expects him to do well as the bike is a pig, if he does well happy days.

but please cal stop the rubbish mock pi$$ take of matt roberts on the grid. its getting old.

Just let him go, we all know he wants the image and attention that a factory rider craves, he wants the bling and the Gs that a factory ride provides, but once the front end folds on him (Sachsenring style) , his big mouth and primadona personality will emerge, he will make Alonso sound like a diplomatic ambassador.

remember the resources audi have at their disposal is rather epic. also they tend not to do second place. it will be interesting to see there fast turnaround of new frames and parts. if ducati ask for a new 5 axis milling machine, audi will ask how many do you need to win?
