"control tire = control championship.
Prime example Casey Stoner 2012. "

Dont you mean Dani Pedrosa 2012? He won 2 more races than stoner, came second in WC (ahead of CS) and on same bike and control tires as CS?

Or is it because Dani doesnt moan as much or as loud that he gets over-looked? Just another example of people trying to re-write history.

This season is going to go down to the wire like in 2006,, nothing is sure untill the top4 guys pass the finishing line in valencia.

Marc is on a march and holding a firm grip in his favour in title chase,,

Rossi still has his chances alive,, its an uphill task but few things have started favouring Rossi lately,,
Sorting out brake issue,
New hard tyre debut in brno,
Transmission upgrade in line,

So if Rossi senses an opportunity to go for it,, then anything is possible...

I reckon Honda's juggernaut Budget and R&D are the only ones who can run the whole season hard with only 5 engines and limited fuel. Only they could afford to spend the megabucks to come up with the solutions.

Funny that. Or not.

Its a one-make, 2-horse event for the WC IMO. The only question is who Honda want to win it for them. Dani has paid his dues but I reckon the one in favour is Marc Marquez.

I don't think Yamaha have enough left in the locker to challenge HRC.

Possibly the BEST thing that could happen for the future of MotoGP is if (when?) HRC run away with the championship this season is that all of a sudden......

it dawns on the massive partisan fanbase army of Valentino Rossi that the man is actually disadvantaged even on his works Yamaha which inhibits his ability to use his skills to challenge for the WC.

Not enough CARE if its a Crutchlow or an Espagaro or a Bautista who aren't allowed the kit to challenge. But if its ROSSI, then the cudgels will be raised and a massive outraged outcry will rattle the windows at Dorna Hq.

THEN Dorna might actually DO something to address the lunatic rules, equipment and support and get MotoGP back to real Racing.

Sorry, but I really don't think this will happen. The MotoGP world is a lot different than it was in '06.

The situation engineered by the regs puts all the power in HRC's hands (not surprising when chances are they proposed the regs to Dorna to play lip-service to 'controlling' costs and Mfr dominance to begin with) - they should romp away with the Mfr WC through the 2nd half of the year.

If they don't and it IS close.. then it'll be due to some sandbagging to make it look good IMO.

wow conspiracy theories ahoy on a thread about MM being "realistic" until Dani and Jorge are fit.. come on you give everyone in GP too much credit to control this much of a 18 race WC with so many variables.. Just turn off/enjoy and support your rider(s)!!

@ Darkwaknight

Yes, there ARE a lot of variables. And an awful lot of those variables can be controlled and manipulated though.

Even the riders can be controlled (to a degree) with team orders and also via the electronic input from factory engineers (who also control the Satellite teams engines and set-up data settings).

It's easy to knock someone for 'conspiract theories' and be dismissive. I have no idea to what extent things go on. But I really don't like the fact that the control is there to manipulate the field - esp. when so much of that control lies with a competitor.

Marquez's 'true level' will NEVER be truly known because his performance and others can be influenced positively or negatively to suit the whims of those in control.

@ BobaFett

I'm far from being a 'leghumper' (very good!) - in fact I seem to have attracted some negativity today from having the nerve to actually write a less than 'leghumping' post on VR on another thread.

But... I do think that Yamaha have a problem, which will affect JL & VR. JL is doing better than VR yes, but fractions count and I think both will join the rest of the field in being unable to keep up with the HRC's.

The reduction to just 5 motors along with the rest of the constraining regs plays to Honda's mighty budgets, R&D & strengths. These regs are what will hand the 2013 Mfr WC to Honda on a plate. Which means they will also win the riders WC while the Yamaha boys cannot challenge.

We shall see. But this entirely my expectation, and has been since the beginning of the season.
