Which means..... Marquez has next to no competition for the WC.

Out of a field of what, 20, there are only 4 bikes theoretically capable of the WC, and only 2 truly competitive over the season (think I'm wrong? Look at the constructors points table for a start, and just wait till HRC's dominance kicks in when engine life really hits home at Yamaha).

The might of HRC's resources and wallet has ensured that - for the WC Marquez has only Pedrosa (already injured and detuned once) as competition.

Having only 2 riders capable of challenging one another (one tenth of the Field) over a season means that there ISN'T really a competition at all.

To me this means that anyone winning the MotoGP title isn't "proving" that they are "the best" at all. To prove you are the best you have to win fair & square when all your opponents have a fair chance with equipment as near-equal as the rules can make them. MotoGP's organisation means we are moving further AWAY from this ideal to even more of

re: "I've been watching this series since '97, and my eyes tell me that it's not the bike winning"

I call BS. what've you watched...? 1 race per season for the past 17 years...? that's the only way one could come to that conclusion.

@Poddy

Nah, I think Lorenzo is a good bloke and beyond that type of thing nor will he excite his fans to do the same, different personality in all cases

Come on man. Can we please, please stop with the equality argument? I mean, really....MotoGP isn't the only racing series that is run this way. EVERY racing series is run this way.

I sometimes think that people who want to see all the bikes equal don't actually ride bikes. If one manufacturer or the other wasn't winning consistently, the other manufacturer would have no need tpo improve and at our end, those trick bits of kit would never filter down to our rides. We would all still have dual shocks on the rear and drums on the front.....
