o seriously doubt he wants to to retire and no one is forcing him to stay , he's not in prison , he just wants the glory of 10 world championships , he has already said he wants to keep racing a few more years.
my guess is he is a slave to his own empire and doesn't know how to walk away.

It seems to be forgotten that Casey didn't turn down the electronics because he is some sort of Superman. He turned them down to allow him to spin the rear to overcome the front end understeer problems. His unique skills allowed him to win races where no one else could..... but not always.

In all honesty Codge,that is a fair point.We know that Casey turned the electronics down to help him cope with the Ducatis steering issues.Cant see anything wrong with your statement there.

As regards electronics in general,we could argue the pros and cons all day,fact is,you cant uninvent technology.They are here to stay.But as has already been pointed out,a rider has the option to turn them down if he so desires.

Electronics is somethingh that is inevitable at Motogp, where the power is so big that the only way of letting riders exploring tha maximan of the bike they need electronics

Why build a bike with 250 hp then nerf it back to 200hp so it can be ridden.

That's why MotoGP takes a back seat to Moto 2 & 3.

The field would be bigger without the millions spent on electronics, all it is doing is taking away rider skill.

The thing is.... 200bhp is more than enough to challenge even MotoGP gods if they have to use their own talent to manage it and not electronics.

Also just cos we HAVE the tech doesn't mean it should be used and allowed if it is undermining the PRIMARY purpose - the Racing!

The time cannot be far away when Homda will prove their package is SO capable that your granny could win on it. Well done, v clever etc etc.

But then brain surgery is clever too. But no one thinks itd be a good spectator sport.

@ Burro......can't argue with that. Rossi, in my opinion., is doing just fine but what you say is true (in my opinion)
His fans, his detractors, and me all expected a little better. He did say, when he signed, that it would take him a while though.

there's nothing wrong with todays racing , anyone who thinks it was beter back then never seen the races back then , nothing has changed in racing terms.
back then there was still 2 or 3 and sometimes 4 riders out lapping the field every race , and the top cream were always still winning .
the only visible difference that was noticeable was the styles and vastly unstable bikes as the they tried to flick the riders to the moon every turn.

The justification for all prototype racing in corporate budgets is R&D. Yamaha would not have crossplane engines in road bikes without MotoGP. Bikes are now coming with variable mapping, traction control and other electronic goodies (even one's for better fuel economy / emissions)

Think of all the squids that will be saved thanks to the electronics developed in MotoGP! Insurance rates will come down, seeing bikes with horrid crash cages will be less common, and I know if my good old 92 F2 had electronics I would have avoided a few nasty crashes.

Riding still needs a guy operating the front brake, rear brake, steering, throttle, clutch and his own body position to make things happen. No electronics can change that and the one that does the best job will win. If he can do the best job and break lap records that's even better.

Tires are still the biggest limiting factor, followed by fuel limits.

So why don't we just add GPS controlled brakes on the bikes too. Speed is calculated and a gyro calculates lean angle. Heat in the tires is added to the calculations for traction and the computers can calculate maximum braking available to the rider. Regardless of how the rider squeezes the lever, the perfect amount of braking will be applied to the apex. Then, the rider can just twist the throttle wide open and let the computer dial in the perfect amount of throttle. All the while the automatic quickshifter relieves the rider of having to think about that as well. That's pretty much the state of things, and things to come. Electronics have no place in racing when it overrides basic machine control. Sure, fuel mappings and suspension control maybe. The throttle, and TC, should belong to the man, not the computer. I am not his fan but Rossi is right, he has the credentials to make such a statement without the slander of arm chair racers who only wish they could be 9 times wo

Aaah .... too much complain, If don't like Electronic and he thouhgt he will faster without electronic ... just move to other class/competition or put off or turn off the electronic from his bike
