I can't believe Rossi didn't make the list! I remember in 2010 he got a paper cut when signing autographs. He bravely jumped onto his bike and raced less than 4 hours later! Imagine the pain from the sweat getting into the cut whilst he was racing! Brave brave man.

I always thought Lorenzo being carried onto his bike, and then making a podium, and then being on crutches to the podium was a great one in 2008, racing with two broken ankles.

and rossi making a hell of an effort with like four broken bones in his right hand at Valencia 2007 as well, to try and keep 2nd in the championship

I think the top to me is Lorenzo's Assen 2013 though.

In 2008, Nori Haga raced In qualifying on Saturday at the new Miller Motorsports Park in Utah, he clanged into a slower rider under braking, went over the front of his bike and broke his right collarbone so badly it looked like an explosive device had gone off inside it.

The bone was in four distinct pieces, the two middle ones floating around like oversize splinters of wood, providing all the support and comfort level of a broken bra strap made of barbed wire.

But still Nori went 10th in Superpole, with no operation, no plates, no pins, just some bandaging and a vein-load of extremely strong painkillers. Of his raceday prospects Haga said, “I will be racing, I just need to see how I am.”

Next day, astonishingly, he not only raced in the opener, he crashed again, at the same corner as Saturday! But Haga rode in race two, finishing with 10 points in sixth place

2 weeks later, Haga claimed a double victory in Germany, Nurburgring,

Voice - are they? I raced for some years after a rta that broke my back both legs arms and wrists (actually at that time the only person to be registred disabled and hold a racing licence - was actually in hospital at the same time as Sheene and those 20 guys around me were laughing because my x rays and prognosis was far worse than his and I went on to spend a year in there) an unfortunate shunt damaged my back again yet because I was running third in the championship at the time, I travelled all the way to Scotland lying in the back of a van driven by my mechanic and competed (got sixth) I was operated on a week later and a month later returned to win twice. This was club racing coupled with the British champs and while it has caught up with me and I struggle a lot all these years later, I was 36 at the time and still that unpaid, amateur championship meant more to me than my phd! Its the thrill and competition that drives you.

Mats, Rainey followed the Donington 2nd place with a dominant win at the Czech Gp before that fateful visit to Misano. Fair to say he wasn't effected in Misano by what had happened at Donington.
