MotoGP » Marquez, Pedrosa agreement 'almost impossible'

'What needs to be understood is whether this could have been avoided – both the incident between the two riders and the accident itself – because those are the two important aspects' - Javier Alonso

There is a simple solution, ban traction control and all other electronic aids. Then it would be real rider skill that wins a race.Without minimizing the effort and expertise of current generation riders (I do respect them greatly), all ex 500 riders must be thinking 'what a bunch of wimps, can't ride without TC,complain if you come too close, better play MotoGP on XBOX or PS'.

i dont care about the outcome of this investigation. Cause I already looking forward to next season and hoping Dani do his best next year. but i hv mixed feeling now because the his challenge for the championship end like this.

@ hoppy.

I don't know where you get your "90% racing incident " from other than the random addition of subjective messages on the internet.

The survey on crash basically indicates more than 63% want him penalized and from that 43 % disqualified.
ONLY 36 % think he should walk away with a smile and continue his ways...

So could you explain your claim of "90%"? Looks rather far-fetched to me...

The #26 haters have been waiting since '06 for something to whinge about. Dani has done nothing wrong towards other riders for 7 years and still you all slag him off! In one breath he's boring etc, in the next breath he's talking too much and being controversial - make up your minds!! Remember, he's 4th in the list of all-time podium finishers. Remember, he warned against some riders who later had real 'issues'. Generally if Dani says it's fact, it is! Honest, but not a whinger like some (past & current ) riders. I like the guy - no BS, just consistently fast since his first race. How many other riders have been on the podium regularly for 8 years with no barren spell? Answer = NONE! How many riders have had to beat team-mates like CS & MM - Answer = NONE! The guy's very, VERY good, so get over it!!!!

Pedrosa is doomed. The crash was caused by a design fault. It's the same as Lorenzo losing a brand new engine last year after the Bautista incident, when the engine loss was down to Yamaha. DP's crash was down to a Honda design fault. Mind you, I don't know what the traction control is supposed to do once it detects that the wheel sensor is out, and the thottle is open wide...but that's for the programmers. They have other telemetry options.

Separately, despite the fact that a) I think MM deserves to win this year, because he has been the fastest rider, this is in contrast to b) MM has had numerous beyond-the-edge-of-control moments when behind other riders (mostly JLo)... banging fairings is ok in motorcycle racing... getting hit from behind does ugly things. If he is going to outbrake himself, he needs to do it 12 inches either side of the rider he might hit.

Notwithstanding, there is no way they can penalise MM for this incident. Despite the consequences (which although related, a

..., are not the direct effect), this was a minor incident. He has done worse this year without threat of punishment. As tough as this is, Dani is just going to have to eat it. MM should keep riding hard, but he doesn't need to do this stupid sh1t.

Harryx, Yup, the poll shows that a lot of people wanted a disqualification. But look at the comment section, almost everyone believes that it's a racing incident. I'm not going to take a lot of stock in a poll which allows you to vote as many times as you want. A few fanboys could make that happen. Who in the comment section wanted a race disqualification? One person? Maybe two - out of 160 comments in which most said it was a racing incident? Then, look at the disagrees and agree's of each person (which you can't do multiple times). It's clear that the majority of people are not for a penalty.

Haddock, if you're going to forget about the TC sensor breaking in this incident, nothing would have ever happened. Even on the replays over and over, Harris and Emmett couldn't decide whether or not he actually touched. On Dani's on board camera facing forward, you could not see any sort of shake from the contact.
MM was trying to avoid contact and made the slightest of touches - Nothi

Cornice,i agree.
People can vote what they like in an anonymous poll, but most of the comments i have read here say it is a racing incident.
In fact just about everybody i know has stated it was just that.
Did people get to vote when Dani took Nicky out?
Or when Val took Casey or Sete out?
Did they get punished for taking those riders out?
NO,and why?
Because they were racing incidents!
This has been blown up beyond all proportions in my opinion. As i have said before,if Marc had smashed into Dani whilst pulling some hair brained overtake,i would be the first to critisice.
Dani complained about Marc riding on the limit.
Well, maybe thats what it takes to win a Motogp title these days.

Conrice, you miss my point. I am doing anything but scrutinising the detail. That's why I said forget the TC. For me it was a racing incident, but I think you can only have so many racing incidents and near misses before the lad has to be had words with.

Clearly most folks on here agree. That's why all the comments are saying its a racing incident, but the poll still has a large percentage saying he needs a ban. The ban is about the cumulative effect and his attitude rather than this particular incident. This incident may well just be the straw that broke the camel's back.
