MotoGP » Marquez, Pedrosa agreement 'almost impossible'

'What needs to be understood is whether this could have been avoided – both the incident between the two riders and the accident itself – because those are the two important aspects' - Javier Alonso

Hoppy, agree all those events were racing incidents. The difference here is that there appears to be growing concern that for MM they are a consequence of his everyday riding style rather than isolated incidents caused by poor judgement. Its a big difference. I am not saying MM should be banned, I'm just stating why I believe there is so much fuss and the stewards have got involved.

"MM should keep riding hard, but he doesn't need to do this stupid sh1t. " -Truefan

Yeah but that's the problem for race direction, some riders are complaining that unless he's strongly penalized he'll keep doing this stupid sh1t. Yet the Aragon incident in itself is not enough to give him any kind of penalty. Tricky situation.

Bored of this now, nothing would have been said if the wire was not broken. Even race control have said it's a 1000/1 chance. But ped has come and said MM rides to the limit, guess what that's how you win.

And look at how JLo and Pedrosa are "trying" to win now by asking MM to be penalized.

What's worse? For the sport - certainly it's taking points away (disqualification) and having riders complain.

Marquez has NOT escaped punishment this season. He has 2 penalty points for the Silverstone 'missed flags' incident.
Penalty points are (and should be) awarded on the basis of an action made by the rider, not by the reaction it causes.

I begin to realized that this incident not even the Honda fault. Remember previous season when Pedrosa's crew stuck the tire warmer and caused some damages to front wheel part that lead Pedrosa crash on 3rd corner of the Motegi circuit?

The Aragon incident is exactly the same outcome when the sensor's cable not properly secured and got ripped off due to the soft contact with Marquez's bike or elbow(even funnier). Pedrosa crews definitely not doing a good job preparing the bike.

It's like saying Lorenzo should be penalized for touching Marquez from the inside when he made the pass lead to his winning at Silverstone.

Pedrosa's root causes of his problem is from the inside his pitbox than his team mates or opponents.

Spot on. As I said forget the TC sensor i.e. the outcome. Look at the cause, and look at what the possible consequences of those causes could be. That is how safety is managed regardless of whether it is in ultra safety conscious environments, or whether it is in an environment where high levels of risk are a part of the game. MM and his team aren't daft. They would have expected this at some point.

MM should receive penalty but nothing of sort of a race ban or something even like pit lane start.
Just hand him 1 single penalty point for this smallest error. This will act as a final warning for him.
But there are other points which should be remembered:-
1. He deserved 2 penalty points for what he did to Jorge at Jerez and another 3 for silverstone. This would have taken care of those pit lane starts people demand.
2. But he deserved them at that time and they should not be handed to him now.
3. Honda must work towards their engineering process to provide better feedback system.
4. DP is just plain unlucky here and this is something you come across in all walks of life and not just sport. Sometimes it's down to luck, while at others it's down to him or at times having a great competition.

The problem i have here is you cannot punish one rider for making contact with another on track, when many others have done it in the past and have got away with it.
Marc should not in my opinion be singled out for special punishment. As i have stated,if he gets punished everyone has to be punished.
The only thing to do is to totally ban all contact on track. And that would be completely unrealistic and probably not even possible!
I will be watching this very closely to see how it is handled.
