MotoGP » Marquez, Pedrosa agreement 'almost impossible'

'What needs to be understood is whether this could have been avoided – both the incident between the two riders and the accident itself – because those are the two important aspects' - Javier Alonso

"Who has MM hurt? Who has he almost killed?"

Hurt? Corsi & Wilairot (from memory so can't say if there may be more).

Almost Killed? Arguably:
Cal Crutchlow
Several Silverstone Marshall's
Rattapak Wilairot.

Any of these could too easily have resulted in fatalities. Again from memory, so I cant say if there are other instances which could be categorised as such.

All this would not be happening if there wasn't some iffy history, cos no-one would haul MM into a hearing JUST for this incident IMO. Like it or not.

It is a little "simple" to state that a poll is useless and a comment based on the same principle with the same supposed flaws is true. That is ridiculous.

Race incidents are race incidents which, the word says so, are incidental. MM's behavior is not incidental any more. Basically you cannot call it a race incident any more if the phrase has "Marc Marquez" in it.

Pedrosa taking Hayden out or Rossi Stoner are race incidents as they were actual overtakes in the middle of the race. This happens incidental.

The fairing bashing were typically side by side battles into a corner. Either by MM or Rossi or Gibernau, or Roberts JR which I consider "OK" especially on a last lap.

Not OK are totally useless out of control killer maneuvers like taking people out in the first corner and riding people of the road. pushing riders purposely on the grass etc. that give an unfair advantage and are not racing but plain stupid.

Running into someone from behind on the outside of a corner is such a man

Running into someone from behind on the outside of a corner is such a maneuver. especially if you almost ran into people so often. Just Check MM's record on that by looking at this years racing.

and even so, if nothing happens no harm done but if you get an unfair advantage and harm your direct competitor then penalization is the correct thing. At least in my eyes...

Not wishing to belittle the damage that Dani might have suffered, but this was a something or nothing incident that dorna are overblowing to boost media coverage in preparation for next year when they will be trying to tempt most of the UK viewers to invest in the BT service. (good luck with that)
IMO if the riders are relying on the TC to work consistently then the engineers/designers need to fit back up systems or not fit TC at all.

It's purely Honda's fault as to the placement of the singular sensor. Like others have stated, if there were redundancies considered, the light contact would possibly have resulted in a win for DP & possibly a pass for VR on MM. That would've been a pleasure to see. Like I said before, HRC should've had Livio keep his mouth shut & handled matters in house.
On whether MM needs to be spanked or not, I'm a bit on the fence. In this case, he clearly had the pace to wait until later in the race. Dani wasn't much of a threat, title-wise or race-wise, esp on lap 6. I do however love his style & winning heart! Much like Vale's!

Up to the point where this crash occured Pedrosa was catching Marquez. He was going faster. He caught him and made a clean pass. DP didn't break early. He was riding brilliantly. Marquez just couldn't accept being passed and behaved in a totally reckless manner. He couldn't have predicted the result of that touch but the fact is he just ran into the back of DP. Although undoubtedly a genius, his style has always been characterised by reckless passing and he has got away with it up to now. In these close passing monoeuvres, riders have to trust one another. This guy is going to intimidate others who would rather get out of his way than be knocked off. I think he should be disqualified and then he might start to think a bit more.

HarryX. You don't understand - and that's okay. They're not one in the same.

Poll: You can vote as many times as you want. To even see the poll - you have to vote again. And lets say the DP fans might just want to vote a few more times than once to get their point across.

Comments: People commenting by name. So for your last two posts, there's no mistaking that its' two people, because it's you. AND, you can't agree/disagree more than once.

So the 80+agrees compared to the 7 disagrees that the first post has is a more accurate representation of the opinions of members (or just anyone looking at the comments). And that guy said - racing incident.

@ MikeW

LOL! They were barely 6 laps in. MM almost always rides around behind the front runners until the last 3 or 4 laps before overtaking and going for the win. Pedrosa has started off strong only to fall behind in many races this season. I don't know that you can state with absolute certainty that Pedrosa was "catching" Marquez. It was wayyyy too early to tell.
