"It didn't feel like a lonely race because I could still see Cal and Bautista in front of me at some places" - Bradley Smith.

@ Birtie

1 Ducati retirement & No Bradl, otherwise he was back around 9th or 10th.

As for the story ... if he could still see Cal, then his eyesight is far better than his ability on a motorcycle.
Or maybe he could just see him on the big screen ...

Fullofit,

He was well ahead of Hayden when he retired. Agree that Bradl would have put him to 8th. Not sure which other 2 riders could have pushed him to tenth.

Where, in your opinion, should he have finished to be justifying his ride?

@ Fullofit Lets see....

2 Repsols which nothing can touch for superiority - esp. now at point of "oh $h1t we are running out of motors" time of the season.
2 Factory Yams (which ARE better than satellite kit)
2 semi-factory Honda's (cept no Bradl THIS time)
1 CC with a up-specced bike and 3rd season on board a T3.
2 Full-factory (albeit struggling) Ducati's

So with all the above in mind.... just where do YOU think a rookie like Smith SHOULD be finishing that Tech 3?

Please do not use MM as a rookie counter-argument when MM has an HRC & got EVERY advantage (as you'll only make yourself look stoopid).

Next year it will probably be Espargaro on his learning year, fighting the Ducatis and being put down by the armchair brigade, and Smith harassing the semi-factory Hondas, fighting for a podium when one of the top three falters.

Jc I think you are spot on. The armchair brigade have already aligned themselves to Pol and Scott. I think their sofas won't be feeling quite so comfortable in 2014. As neither of those two are in MM's class or with his support it is difficult to see them doing any better than Brad this year i.e. they aren't going to be getting close to Bradl and Bautista. Brad with a year under his belt and Cal's bike? Well simple logic says he will be up with Bradl and Bautista.

Pol is Lin Jarvis' blue-eyed boy.

He'll get plenty of help to justify Yamaha's decision to hire him over Cal. Pol will be wanting to make as big a splash as MM has and I'm sure the factory will facilitate that.

I hope Brad doesn't get the rug pulled out from under him and end up as Pol's bitch?
