I think this category could be great. They won't have the bells and whistles (seq gearbox, pneumatic valves, updates) of the top bikes. But they will have a decent base for engineers to start from so that on a wet day, or changeable weather day they could be up there in the mix, maybe even near the podium places.

Given a decent rider, they might also expose some satellite riders who should be doing better.

I'd rather watch a field of ten equal machines duelling than a field of 30 where only 5 or 6 can win. TV coverage during the race only shows leading group and some if any tussles down to about tenth. Hopefully this new formula will level the field and Ducati will rediscover their mojo.
Otherwise the 2014 result is.
