If Dangler can, by some miracle, get a competitive bike under Dovi I will personally snog him. If he gets one under Cal as well....I'll take it back.

(I can say this sort of stuff because nobody will come on this thread to read it , it's about Dovi after all.)

Hang on there Codger, someone's bound to come on here and start fighting about the virtues (or lack) of Rossi and Stoner ! Looks like you're gonna have to live with that comment !
... On topic it would be good to see an improved showing (and bike) for 2014 from the Ducati boys, I hope so anyway.

i have no doubt the ducati has been able to win races all along , with cal there i think he and dovi will push each other to concentrate on riding rather than worrying about what the bike feels like.

Realist.
i'm under no illusions either , that bike is clearly far more stable than the ones stoner had to ride , the power is still there as well , i think riders are just afraid to see what happens if they push it to the limit , which is what the honda and yamahas are being pushed to , how can you tell what a bike can do if you don't wring its neck , fact is you can't.

@ Dacron

That's my point though. ALL of those riders have pushed the limit, and ALL of those riders have met the sand trap too. The limit is easy to find on the Ducati as it's fairly low! Thus, the riders stay away from the limit because nobody wants the rubber side up. This is plainly obvious and has been discussed ad nauseum season after season.....that's why I'm surprised that you can even bring yourself to spew that nonsense man. You're smarter than that! I think the worst and/or most interesting Ducati mishap happened to Rossi at Laguna Seca. He was completely upright and the bike just slipped like it was on two banana peels. Just insanely odd bike behavior.

thats because rossi was scared of the bike and all his energy was used on worrying rather than just go hard , stoner has said many times the ducati has to be pushed hard from the go or its flaws will just overwhelm you , i'm not saying its a great bike , i'm saying it could still win a race if it was ridden with less worry and more anger.
everyone knows its a flawed bike , but there are guys still signing up to ride them using too much caution , if stoner never went to ducati i doubt they would of ever gotten a win apart from the common once every few years spectacle , and no one would even have a clue that the bike has problems , once everyone seen it win 23 races with one guy and no others getting anywhere its still clear the bike can win races.

Dacron, well thought argument on your part but a little too simplistic in my opinion.

Most of Casey's stats were compiled on the 07 bike, which ceased to exist in 08. He had 4 yrs on the Ducati and the results declined year on year. Whether that was due to the bike going backwards or Casey's abilities declining depends on whether your a fan or not. Stoner's efforts in 2010 were superhuman but imo the bike broke him.
Rossi & JB were employed to calm the bike down so that anyone could ride it. They seem to have done that, although, as you point out, it might be because everyone is too cautious on it.
