This will test the ingenuity of KTM & Honda. Cost cutting ios all very fine but if it means that the qualityn ofn the racing suffers then Dorna have made a cut too far. That the factory KTM's will have the same engines as the teams that they supply will stop the works bikes having an advantage, this year the factory KTM bikes featured dual exhausts whereas the engines supplied to contracted teams, although ther advantage was tiny it was significant. Honda do not like to be beaten especially by a non Japanese company so will be prepared to spend enough of their considerable motorsport budget to ensure that they are top dog. To me the one team to watch out for is Mahindra, last season they did wonders with a bike that was outdated from tyhe start but so I understand have started this coming year with a clean sheet design.

Honda voted against this! KTM will suffer most as their works chassis were €400k, all KTM's in the championship had dual exhaust this year even customer and Kalex. Mahindra's bikes changed this year from being supplied by Engines Engineering (Italjet, Lambretta, Loncin, Malagutti) to using and a complete Suter bike, which Suter were going to sell as their own but mothballed it.
