The premier class in GP motorcycle racing? Why is it the premier class? Firstly, the machines are so overly controlled by the electronics, it's irrelevant how much horsepower the bikes produce. Secondly, contrary to popular belief, the best riders don't always compete in the class. Look at last year for example. Moto 2 had the best rider in the world, something MM proved when he moved to MGP this year. Thirdly, there are only 4 machines capable of winning, so how would that relate to a competitive class? And finally, most races are a bore fest, so watching the smaller capacity classes is far more interesting.
The term, PREMIER class, is a marketing ploy, nothing else. It's amazing how many people fall into the trap. As Konrad Adenauer once observed, "In view of the fact that God limited the intelligence of man, it seems unfair that He did not also limit his stupidity".
