MotoGP » Mixed opinions as MotoGP tries Catalunya’s F1 corner

Marc Marquez 'likes' tighter F1 corner at end of Catalunya back straight, Valentino Rossi thinks it is 'shit'.

MM will obviously like it as he is still fastest.

I'm with VR though. MotoGP shouldn't have to adapt to F1's layout.

Catalunya is a fast flowing smooth race circuit and putting the tighter corner in will ruin the whole momentum of the track.
Keep all the bad ideas in F1 please.

im with rossi to on this one! and i dont like hard brake corners, slow corners! i like to see bike fast through the corners on max lean angle. way more xiting to watch!!
So don't touch that corner!

Agree with you all.. Please dont do that to this track, like Mugello Catalunha is one Holy place for Motorcycle racing, one of my favorits tracks like it is!! Safety is importante but i guess we can all agree that they can find other solution here, just make one super airbag or somethingh to catch the riders..lol All this electronics and bullsht just use some sensors and when the rider cross that point the airbag explode and smooth the impact..=). See its good solution and facion..lolo

The f1 corner would reduce the opportunity to outbrake an opponent taking away another opportunity to overtake still possible just more difficult.

Leave the track alone its fine let f1 do their thing please.

If you want larger run off area,, push the stands in stadium section outwards and push last two corners outwards together without changing the layout,, I mean extend the run up towards T13,, T14 also moves along with it,, so nothing in those corners changes except the run up to stadium corner and home straight becomes little more longer,, we get bigger run off,,
So piece of land available behind stands give us same excitement with usual layout, safety with bigger run off,, more top speed with increased home straight length...

If F1 hadn't put that wimpy shicane (not a spelling error) into the last but one corner, there'd be plenty of room to extend the runoff on this corner.

I wonder why F1 cars just don't go to Bonneville. Straight lines and plenty of run off!

That is why Phillip Island is such a superb track and is so entertaining to watch motogp on. The stupid schicanes are a waist and have ruined racing on lots of superb tracks (Monza is a classic example) they were brought into racing only because that stupid marry go round and boring F1. Take them all out from al the tracks around the world and we will get much better racing.

Tight turns favour machines that power out of turns, fast sweeping turns favor machines that have good cornering capabilities. Thats what this is about. And the safety concerns of course.
