Nice of Yamaha to let him have a go at Motegi. That guy had one of the happiest faces I've ever seen when he got on the podium last year... which was sort of a fluke but I was stoked for him nonetheless. And yeah, I'd bet he beats BS as well.

re: "A four-time Japanese Superbike Champion"

impressive, most impressive. (vader voice/saber sound ionizes air)

with the recent attrition of Japanese talent that now befalls the world stage, road racing could sure use a high profile replacement for Nori HAGA. Kiyo...? Naka...? bueller...? anyone...?

just throwing it out there script writers.

When he got his 2nd place I thought Yamaha would find him a seat on a satellite bike at some stage with him being Japanese and all... I guess it wasn't meant to be. I for one would really like to see more Japanese riders in MotoGP... back in the 90s they looked like they were about to take over the show then, nothing.

We could have maybe had a (premiere) GP rider in Tomizawa, but sadly that would not come to be. We do need more Japanese riders in the mix.

Good move from Yamaha, a nice touch to allow the test rider his time in the sun on the bike he helped develop at his home GP.

Speaking of Japanese riders, how do you guys think Taka Nakagami would go in the premier class? He had a good run last year making his world champion team mate look fairly average.. havent been able to track him this year as One/Ten the local broadcaster axed moto2/3 this year for some infuriating reason

His best result of the year (after the DSQ 2nd at Qatar) is 11th, he has been pretty AWOL after Qatar.

Julian Simon has been pretty average for a few seasons now too

@CarmelitoEzpeleta

Don't worry ten/one have the contract from next year they were fairly slack in recent years though no HD and cutting races in favor of golf or f1.

Its all on pay tv at the moment along with all free practice and qualifying session and they play air them later on when a bigger motorsports event is on but thats not very often.

The new ten/one contract for next year will be all the official Dorna broadcasts in HD covering the entire race weekend.
