Spies has not raced anyone anyone special so how can one judge with any accuracy his ability?
All credit to Suzuki for letting the lad have a pedal round on an RGV, but he has a way to go before he can be classed as better than Nicky.

He NEEDS to be at the world stage, I think he's the most naturally gifted racer in the world, after vale....not to take anything away from nicky hayden or casey stoner or the other big names in motogp, but this kid's the real deal.

Bummer he overcame his fear of flight only to sit and read a book. I would've liked to seen him at the Valencia round.

Have to agree with Will on this one.How can spies be touted as" the most naturally gifted racer in the world after Vale "when he's done sod all.Big deal he's won 2 national championships against piss poor opposition, until he races against and beats anyone of note then judgement shall be reserved! :?

I wouldnt call Mat Mladin piss poor competion, even though I am not a fan of Mladin and think he's a big fish in a small pond, but to beat a six time national champion has to be good for something...still IMO Spies might fair better in SBK then motoGP...

I would like to see him try World Superbike first myself. Last season, Neil Hodgson said the top five guys in AMA superbike would win World SBK in their first year. Spies crushed Hodgson. Spies beat Mladin; twice to the championship. World Superbike is more exciting these days anyway. BMW and KTM throwing their hats into the ring soon too. Should be very fun to see. A fast American in World Superbike would only be positive. yes, I'm a bloody Yank.

The guys got a lot of talent, I'll give him that. But what true motorcycle racer wouldn't want to race in the pinnacle of the sport and prove yourself against the best guys in the world. Spies originally had no interest in racing in Motogp. He claimed that he wanted to stay in AMA and be the most winningest rider. To me thats a waste of talent and the sign of a rider with a lack of heart. that's like a kid saying when I grow up I wanna be the best college basketball star ever, but I have no desire to play in the NBA... He's the type of guy who'll make the transition and give up in year if he's not challenging for the lead. I want him to get a ride so the big boys can teach his *** a lesson

I would just like to make a point about a few of the comments that say there's no talent in AMA or what not...In the spring of this year, Suzuki had a test at Phillip Island where they had the WSBK teams and the AMA teams. Mat Mladin was the only one from the AMA team because of the flying fears of Spies. Max Biaggi was the fastest of the WSBK guys yet Mladin was over a second faster for the entire test. Also, WSBK made Miller Motorsports park put in their contract that the 2 organizations (WSBK/AMA) MUST race separate track configurations. There reasoning was lap time differences and of course advertisement signage. I would love to see Mladin/Spies in WSBK..Mladin will NEVER happen though.

I've watched this kid go through the ranks and he's simply dominated every class he's competed in professional motorcycle racing in the same fashion that I've seen Rossi dominate. he's capable of pulling a lewis hamilton, on the racetrack, if you know what I mean lol! I'd love to see this kid go to the uk and kick sod in the face of you british ******** haha canadian humor! Seriously though, Ben Spies is the real deal, just cuz he's not a eurobred doesn't mean he can't pull the plug and smoke rubber with the best of em! Elbowz has earned my respect! and given the chance will earn yours too
