I don't know what would happen to tyre development. But I do know that F1, wsbk and bss have all seen great racing since introducing a control tyre rule. Just think about it. In Sundays F1 there was more overtaking in that race than in a whole of the 2008 MotoGP season. I used to be against the use of control tyres, but not now. Just give me close exciting racing. Please!

MOTOGP » Single tyre verdict announced

The definitive 2008 tyre rules are still to be decided, but one thing is now certain - MotoGP will remain a multi-tyre championship after the single-brand proposal was withdrawn.

Hey Grumpy Doc, Vale would have to be the lead singer of any band called the 'The Haz Beanz' while Edwards and Pedrobot can form a band called the 'The Never Waz's'. As to Melandri, we'll see next year won't we, but I think you'll be eating some humble pie next year (bet you already know how it tastes) ;)

Hayden 3 wins, Stoner 16/17? I think there's a little bit of a difference there.

Anyway, tyres were never the problem, Hayden never will be up there, Pedrosa is a 125/250 rider, wet weather ability is the hallmark of a true 500/MotoGP rider and Rossi's bike was a dog. Blaming the Michelins was too convenient for some.

if prototype is the reason than let michelin pours all resources it got ... don't restrict them ...

again as a race fan i don't care who develop this or that ... my concern is to watch good racing ... the only reason why motogp is regarded as the highest level of 2 wheel racing is because of the speed not prototype mambo jumbo ... that's was the real reason for using 4-stroke 990 at the place because in the 90s the wsbk bikes were laping faster than the 500 at some tracks ... come on bring back the racing ... development belongs to R&D not racing ... racing is entertainment

If we want a level playing field (tyres ect traction control)and exciting racing Casey Stoner should be banned, he is just tooooo good for the riders about at the moment.

Well according to Eurosport our thread discussions are a bit dodgy.

Eurosport claims that the 'one tyre rule' has been scrapped and Michelin will live to fight another day in MotoGP:

I agree saltbush. Stoner has an unfair advantage - he has too much talent for the current crop of 'has beens', 'never made its' and 'spoon feed golden boys'!

this hasn't anything to do with tires, but can anyone confirm or deny the rumour that Alberto Puig is leaving Honda and Dani?
