I don't know what would happen to tyre development. But I do know that F1, wsbk and bss have all seen great racing since introducing a control tyre rule. Just think about it. In Sundays F1 there was more overtaking in that race than in a whole of the 2008 MotoGP season. I used to be against the use of control tyres, but not now. Just give me close exciting racing. Please!

MOTOGP » Single tyre verdict announced

The definitive 2008 tyre rules are still to be decided, but one thing is now certain - MotoGP will remain a multi-tyre championship after the single-brand proposal was withdrawn.

Always fun listening to you guys, Stoner this, Stoner that, without his tyres, without the Ducati, blah, blah blah. Just out of interest where would the world championship be if Loris (an ex WC, Italian on a Ducati) was the lead Ducati rider... Oh, that's right it would be in Vales hands, with Michelins+Yamaha, followed by Pedrosa with Michelins+Honda. Loris is 7th, so tell me again how it is JUST the bike and the tyres when the 2nd & 3rd place guys are not on Bridgestones and the nearest placed Ducati is 7th.....

How about some credit where it is due, and those of you writing Casey off for next year has not been watching the display like last weekend in Malaysia - awesome riding..!!

hi folks,

WITHOUT a single tyre rule next season we are NOT going to a true picture as to where
riders/teams are at.
Once again riders will drop away during the race because of tyres and the race one by who's tyres last and not by rider and the teams efferts.

RACE WEEKEND:- TEAM AND RIDER TURNS UP AT TRACK - ASSEMBLES BIKES - RIDER TESTS AND QUALIFIES, AT THIS POINT MANY DAYS AND NIGHTS OF WORK BY TEAM AND RIDER TO GET IT RIGHT FOR THE RACE.......... THEN RACE DAY, THE TYRE DONT LAST!!! WASTE OF BLOODY ALL THAT TIME AND MONEY...

Tokehash, you've hit the nail firmly on the head. Might be a bit more to do with stupidly good electronics than less power than they can lay down..... Even F1 is banning some electronics for ****sake!

I'm sad to say that I was disappointed to hear the single tire rule would not come to be. Though I agree with the many, that MotoGP is a prototype class and therefore the bike manufacturers and tire manufacturers should in competition, to me that means that there should be no restrictions on the number of tires. However, I wonder if many are missing the big picture....F1 and all it's R&D money has gone to single tire, - is it a coincidence that the year that bridgestone kick Micheline's tail across the globe in Motogp is the year after michelin was excluded from F1?? Michelin have No other R&D - I think next year bridgestone will continue to leave michelin in the dust..sadly we need 1 tire
