I think Hayden was testing a 16" rear tire and Dani was running the 16.5", which in post race testing Hayden swithced back to the 16.5" and ran .9 faster.

R&D should take place on test tracks not in gp races. Rossi's engine failure is another example of a testing gone bad in a race.

These guys are racers let them race, cut the politics, favoritism, and corporate crap that seems to be driving the sport right now.

It was Motegi in '06. Rossi was desperate to pass and entered the corner way too hot. He blammed Marco and himself right off the track. Marco had a foot injury which required stiches. Rossi wasn't trying to hurt Melandri but he did. :-o

Thank you Sally that was it, it looked very dramatic I remember,
there was a view from Melandris bike to the rear where you saw him coming.
Alas these things happen, Guintoli hurt Hofmann real bad this year but I'm sure it was unintentional.

Quite right Gina, rossi never looks desperate just looks like hes getting on with it to me. No matter whats stacked against him just sorting it out and dealing with it. remember dani took plenty of sh_t for estoril, dont believe dani did it on purpose just a riding accident but for dani at a most unfortunate time in the year. The nasty things I read about dani after that incident were uncalled for and not true. As for Toni Elias, correct me if im wrong but I think he has taken the wheels out from under valentino on numerous occassions, he clashed tanks with valentino, and i thought it was very understanding of valentino on that occassion not to shove Elias head up his pipes.

after elias had those moments with rossi, he soon had taken out a cpl of other riders; forgot exactly which races and which riders - think one involved hayden but not sure..and it kind of confirmed exactly what rossi said ata time and rossi used the word " dangerous" riding. i remember elias being overconfident saying " well that is racing " but then started taking people out and calmed down a bit.

I have to say in defence of Elias that he's just a bit 'wild' at times but great fun to watch,
remember Estoril '06 (the race he won), he was on a roll there, overtaking Rossi in the chicane and snatching away the victory.
I think they like and respect eachother, Rossi mentioned when winning at Assen that he hoped Tony would recover soon,
(after breaking his leg there) naming him a 'hard rival'.
He's seems like a nice kid, I hope he does well on the Ducati (talking about Elias now ;))

yup M - have same feeling.
and yup elias hangs off the bike like a flag, more than anybody else, so it is fun thinking with a little move he will disattach and fly off :-o.
there are moments with elias: in 2007 ( and 2006 start of season ) he got a bit out of line with craziness, and i like him better when he "learned a lesson" and so far responded - calmed down a bit with his dangerous moves.
he's a kind of rider that i prefer serious and riding, than crazy and full of hyped energy taking over the whole world suddenly and taking ppl out.

i understand Morgue what you mean: really exciting to watch! and it almost would come in some kind of outbursts with elias - as if he had some kind of injection of energy from the universe - that would make him perform hanging fast off his bike and staying on it!
a bit like a seizure :-o

Didn't Rossi come out an comment about Elias this year as being dangerous?

http://www.crash.net/motorsport/motogp/news/146812-0/rossi_blames_tyre_slams_elias.html

There is also comments made about 05 in Spain and about a certain rider doing the same thing.

Sounds like typical double standards to me, from a hypocrite. ;)
