I think Hayden was testing a 16" rear tire and Dani was running the 16.5", which in post race testing Hayden swithced back to the 16.5" and ran .9 faster.

R&D should take place on test tracks not in gp races. Rossi's engine failure is another example of a testing gone bad in a race.

These guys are racers let them race, cut the politics, favoritism, and corporate crap that seems to be driving the sport right now.

bull- ****; the moment rossi said he rode dangerously , and with rossi staying on the bike and coming on top - just the very next race he took someone else out in a very similar manner...and it just demonstrated exactly what rossi meant.
then a few races after that - he did it again to a third rider...

Gibernau clearly left the door open at Jerez 05 Anthony, he ran wide then tried to correct it when Rossi was alongside him,
banging into him. watch it again if you will:

Ofcourse a lot of people were screeming bloudy murder back then, if you deny a Spaniard a victory in Spain!
But dangerous? Because Gibernau alledgedly hurt his shoulder?
Being elbowed off the track by Biaggi at topspeed was more dangerous I think.

I agree with you on what Rossi said about Elias but Toni has become more cautious I think and - again - there's no real animosity between them.

yup and I agree that rossi respects elias, and when you think of it - rossi doesnt disrespect any rider ever;
the fact that Toni did become more cautious towards everybody else has earned rossi's respect.
you have to admit that elias needed those experiences of knocking out others to find those boundaries. and rossi knew those boundaries a bit before and ahead.
at the end - toni's end behavior matters - and that is very cool - maybe a bit of aninsight of what kind of potential he has, as well...

Melandri was like that but he learned, he used to go all out trying to overtake the guy in front of him but couldn't set the pace on his own. Then his new teammanager (believe it was Gresini) let him ride around in practice with duct tape or something over his display so he was unable to see his laptimes. That's when he really learned how to ride by feel.

rossi mentions it in his autobiography - about crashing as well. if you're fast and crash, you will find those limits ( and learning from crashing where they are - so you dont go over them ). and if you're slow - whether you crash or not you're " faaked".
i think very valuable info will come out of the bridgestone-yamaha & michellin - yamaha pair.

That Ben Spies has a great riding style, a bit like Toni Elias (sweeping the track, elbows on the ground).
His groupies are probably called the Spies girls?

Nicky You may have a tratior or 2 on your team .i cant see how you could run so fast in 06 and then look like a beginner in o7. something other than the rider is at fault.
