I think Hayden was testing a 16" rear tire and Dani was running the 16.5", which in post race testing Hayden swithced back to the 16.5" and ran .9 faster.

R&D should take place on test tracks not in gp races. Rossi's engine failure is another example of a testing gone bad in a race.

These guys are racers let them race, cut the politics, favoritism, and corporate crap that seems to be driving the sport right now.

MOTOGP » Q&A: Nicky Hayden

After a tough year on track defending his number one plate but without much luck, American Nicky Hayden is determined to take it back in 2008. He has put the new RC212V through its paces and was suitably impressed…..

Nicky Hayden has been humbled this year by realising 2006 was probably a fluke. He didn't realise this until the year was over, but hey, takes time to learn!

All of his interviews in 2007 he's really fair, honest and as far away from big headed as one can get. He hasn't moaned once (unlike Stoner) and is simply keen to step up a gear.

I like the guy, and hope he does well because of his attitude - just please don't win another championship because I hate seeing the Italians so depressed, especially Marco!

I call Hayden a PODIUM champion rather than a winner, but he certainly passed many more riders than stoner might do on a ducati. donnington : very adverse for most riders so lets call stoner a CONDITIONAL champ - many conditions need to be fullfilled so he can be one. many conditions need to be satisfied for him to pass anybody either - and that reflects well how he 'settled' for 2nd or whatever place when got passed during the season.
that is where melandri might be very much stronger as he does dare battle with anybody.
back to Hayden: strong in losing the championship, not moaning, not a robot, a great personality to pedrosa last year when he took him out;

Hayden has been humiliated by honda, he would be better off as first rider for Kawasaki or Suzuki
than stay with an outfit that doesn't respect him.

well that is exactly how much a champ he is - and he's good at it, what else can he do? that doesnt mean that moaner is capable of anything else. as i said he has married ducati same like he is married personally, and he will be a loyal one coz that's the only way he can do it.
is he going to make a difference and develop something new/ explore the possibilities? unlikely . thats what robots do.repeat the same all over again. very good for others esp rossi to make a difference explore those possibilities for the SPORT. so stoner is very good for rossi because rossi will always change to try and make things better for the SPORT. some other riders will do the same: very good for them

Gina,
You just keep on pissin' an' moanin' about Hayden and Stoner. Isn't is funny that they won cuz they were lucky or had a better bike, but ur boy won cuz he's good. A rider wins cuz he consistantly gets more points than the other guys. Face it, ur boy hasn't been able to accumulate the most points for the last two years and I doubt he's gonna be able to do it next year either! I get the impression you think he has "rights" to the WC every year. They race for it girl! :)
