Its gotta be frustrating when you're the best/most talented rider on the circuit and essentially relegated to spectator as a result of your sub par bike/tire package. It's true the Yahama has never been the fastest, but it's also true that it's progressively getting worse. The best rider should at least be on competitive equipment....clearly he is not. I hope that Rossi gets his opportunity to put the smack down once again and reclaim what is rightfully his. Yamaha rested on its laurels and the competition blew by em. He's got every right to call em out on it and light a fire under their *****.

Valentino Rossi has increased the pressure on Yamaha to produce an instantly-competitive 2008 YZR-M1 by publicly pondering a future switch to Ducati.

It is actually a quit factual sumup of his present situation, penned down by the rather trashy Gazetta
At the moment he battled to keep 2nd place with a broken hand the bike let him down - again.
That will make any rider furious, remember Pasini last year? A title contender plaged by mechanical mischief.
He takes a big gamble by switching to Bridgestones alone but if it works out it could actually lead the way for Yamaha.
Yamaha has to work on reliability as well as peeling more power out of the engine.

The Ducati or Honda switch is purely hypothetical, if the reporter asked him about Kawasaki and he said maybe
it would be a big headline too. It all depends on negotiations halfway 2008.

Rossi is playing politics. Remember that Stoner has a new contract with options into 2010 and Melandri has a 2 year contract. So there will not be an available seat in the factory team unless they expand or Rossi goes to the satellite team!
Now Rossi at Kawasaki or Suzuki is a prospect to relish!

I like Rossi but I think this is rude, especially to Melandri. I hope Melandri and Stonner top the championship.
Doubt Ducati would take Rossi then.

Well it looks like we have someone who is bigger than the sport. Why would Ducati take Rossi on board. Where they not after him a few years ago but "Boy wonder" decided Ducati was not good enough.

Ducati took a gamble on a young rider, who was about it's 5th choice and they worked thier ***** off along with Bridgestone to win a maiden championship for the company, tyre and rider.

Why would they take on a spoilt brat, who thinks he is bigger than the sport itself. I can see how he won his championship, through playing the princess and getting his own way.

People talk about Motogp being ruined. Well it is ruined with attitudes like this.

I await the slagging off from the Rossi faithful.

Seriously fokes. You're the ex-world champ and you're use to having everything go your way. If you study how optimists think, we put the blame somewhere else and not on ourselves. Rossi is doing the right thing by publicly considering his options. Competition adapts and so do world champs. If things aren't going your way and it's not 100 percent your fault, what will beating up on yourself do? Make things worst. I'm getting abstract but at the core, this is how people who succeed win. If things are not going your way because of external factors, change your situation. Bottom line, Rossi is still King of 2 wheels, but even kings have their downfalls. Rossi's going out fighting.

I agree with both sides of the argument here. Rossi does appear arrogant but we don't know what is going on behind the scenes. If Yamaha are dragging their heels (which they appear to be) then perhaps they need their A_s kicked in public. Rossi is not bigger than the sport but he is by far the biggest fish in this pond and if he can flex his muscles a little to get what he wants, why not.

If Yamaha are busting a gut to fix the problem, then Rossi is better off getting his head down and working with then.

Historically, Yamaha have tended to rely too much on a gifted rider and not a mechanical advantage (Rossi, Rainey, Lawson, Roberts snr and not much in between).
