That is a very interesting comparison Richard,
and Tamada and Guintoli did it after three quarters of a season racing experience
and bags full of qualifiers. ;)

Yes, Toseland beat Bayliss
:?
1 Toseland GBR 415
2 Haga JPN 413
3 Biaggi ITA 397
4 Bayliss AUS 372

Bayliss is a GP winner something that Edwards is not. Toseland also beat Biaggi - how many GPs and championships has he won?

As long as Yamaha and Michelin are competitive, James is determined and skilled enough to do well in MotoGP, anyone who thinks differently does not follow the sport closely enough to have the knowledge to comment

IIRC baylis beat edwards 2001, Edwards beat bayliss 2002, Toseland beat some french bloke 2003 :p
Bayliss still has more GP victories than Edwards ;)

What would it be like if no-one ever took a gamble and tried?
Sure he COULD have stayed in WSBK another year and maybe won it again, but what would that have proven? He's already beaten the guys that are there TWICE before and on different machinery to boot. What next, win it on a triple, then win it for a fourth time on a single cylinder bike? :p
Or, try and pit yourself against the very best riders on the best bike you can get?
I have no doubts that it WILL be difficult and he WILL come up against difficult days
when he DOES finish 13th, but I also think that he has the ability to prove that he
is worthy of a MotoGP ride...

good question Beulliful ... i guess the answer to that is a Foggy ... James has made the right decision moving to mgp ... just hope that the yamaha will improve significantly next year ... anyway if he could achieve one or two podiums he might get a better offer ... a repsol perhaps (if pedrosa or hayden underperformed next year) ... or maybe a Ducati ...

Exactly Motp, it's a (good) foot in the MotoGP door to what will hopefully become a long career there.

Well Foggy always said that he never jumped over because HE never got offered a GOOD bike in 500cc which was why he stayed where he was. Pity we never saw what he could have been capable of at the highest level for more than a paltry few wildcard races really.
I always liked that Cagiva ride he got a Donington, that bike looked the dogs borrocks! :)

Australian's whinge about over nations "Aussie Bashing" them,,, the british are different they bash their own, give James Toseland a break until he has at least thrown his leg over a MotoGp bike a dozen times in competion before pulling the rug from under him, go back to belting the Aussie's until the bloke proves or disproves himself,,, then if he is any good sing "Rule Brittania"
