chu said: "but the chship was clearly influenced big time by tyre and bike differences"

And it never was when Rossi was winning? Bull***** That guy had so many advantages handed to him it was ridiculous!

Michelin wins for 40 years straight, it's cool.
Bridgestone wins one year, change the rules.

Honda wins for several years in a row with Rossi on board, it's exciting.
Honda wins with Hayden on board, change the rules.
Ducati wins one year with Stoner on board: PLEASE CHANGE THE RULES!!!!!

Rossi wins for 5 years, it's Rossi and exciting.
Hayden and Stoner win for two years, it's boring, it's the bike, it's the tires, change the rules.

C'mon... Get a grip.

How did Michael Schumacher lap just five seconds slower than the MotoGP lap record?

Oh and when you don't like all the electronics....

I have it from vary good resources that one Japanese brand will introduce an electronic semi-automatic gearbox on it's Superbike around 2010-2012. Operated from the handlebars. You just have to wack open the throttle and the thing will keep the front wheel on the ground while accelerating and shift up for you at the right time as well. Another thing soon to come on Superbikes is ABS, because too many squids cannot handle the brakes. The "save me from a highside" devices will come too.

Bwhahahaha. It is sad but true.

jn is right... MotoGP has been huge, because for the last few seasons the racing has been very exciting and close. if people tune out because of F1 type 10 second gaps between riders, veiwer ratings will fall (as has happened this year)sponsers will move as they won't pay millions to have their name on a bike watched by few people and it will gradually collapse. Dorna are "trying" to alter the rules so the racing is closer... It is a business after all. plus rossi attracts a huge following... if he isn't up front because of his package (oo-er!) people will tune out...

p.s. colin edwards may be full of excuses, but he has his head screwed on with his understanding of motogp more than 99% of

Awww well back On Topic. Thumbs up for Schumacher for taking to a Motogp bike again. However his TC was set, he rode the bike which is pretty rare thing 4 wheels-to-2 wheels wise. I wonder what trials he had insurance wise for this ride.

I hate traction control. It makes the racing boring.

madgfx46, 46 says it all, another groupie.

That 7 seconds was on a very short track, where the 15 seconds was on one of the longer tracks I believe. I think if the times were expanded out so you are comparing apples with apples it probably isn't much different.

Power control was already in use at the end of 500cc, and the choice of 990 capacity was because they were worried of not having enough power to beat the 2 stroke, without TC it would have been difficult to do so, and without TC today some rider would be really in trouble today.

...and this came from a guy who failed to win a single race with two bikes that had the potential to win world championship...I seriously do not understand why Yamaha still keep him...

Let's put it this way; The screamer from Ducati is unridable at the limit so it relies on TC to be raced. Stoner needs it on the Ducati as any other "BigBang" would still be more or less rideable without TC and don't wear the tyres out before the end of the race.

Technically it is an interesting approach, but at the moment sports need to get more priority than TC-related technical developments and should not be allowed anymore.

Sports advance technology but at a certain point you have to ask yourself what is more important...

Isn't the whole basis of MotoGP as a prototype series that employs cutting edge technology?
And traction control is coming to road bikes as a consequence of racing development - on the 2008 ZX-10 and 1098R.
Without freedom to innovate, what sort of sports bikes would we have to enjoy today?
Racing has always gone through cycles when it is close and exciting, and one team or individual dominates. Lesson is, leave well alone and the sport will sort itself out. Fiddle with rules and you just make things worse.
