"Aussies are thieves eh" and that coming no doubt from another ignorant pom! funny how karma works out dont you think, poms steal the Scottish and Irish land and food, rape and plunder etc. then Scotts and Irish try to keep their own food and land to survive, poms call em thieves ship em all off to Australia and the poms still call all Aussies thieves hmmmmm
whos laughing now......... karma has a funny way of catching up with the reality, and where would you rather live today.......
And who produces simply the very finest bike racers in the world?
too funny! *Go the Aussies*

It will be interesting to see just what the final times end up as here.
For reference, and using Toseland and Rossi as an example, on the first day of Jerez testing 12 months ago (on the 990 machines) Rossi lapped in 1:41.745, and JT lapped this test in 1:41.776 on an 800 - just three hunredths of a second slower.
I know you can't directly compare the lap times from different machines, but interesting none the less. Incidentally, Rossi's fastest lap at the end of that test was a 1:40.123, with Pedrosa topping the timesheets on a 1:39.910.
Looking back even further (to 20 years ago...) Eddie lawson took pole for the race at Jerez with a 1:50.69. with apologies for the irrelevant trivia.

The times will all end up very close, which will not be good. If everyone is going the same pace, it means that there are little passing opportunities...

Guys and Gals. Some of you don't relaise how difficult it is to change rubber, especially on a bike that has been developed around another brand. To be faster than his old time on the first test is pretty impressive in my book. The characteristices between the two manufacturers' tyres could be miles apart, and last years results would suggest as such. Rossi has switched as he feels he will have a better chance of winning his title back by using Bridgestone and to have the 7 times champ want your product to help him, well, thats a hats off and well done to Bridgestone. Can anyone remember McCoy moving from Dunlop to Mich a few years ago in 500's? He went backwards, didn't he? I rest my case.

Yamapimp your right. Simon Crafer did the same thing. Dunlop to Michelin. He went from GP winner (absolutely blew away Doohan at Donnington) and being a possible title contender for the future to being sacked the folowing year because he "couldn't make friends with the michelin rubber". Haga did exactly the same on the 500 Yamaha. Podium first time out as a wild card (Dunlops)to knowhere on michelins the following year.

For Rossi to be this quick this early should not be underestimated.

Under estimate Rossi at your peril ladies and gents. Coming into the class, you don't know what to expect - but changing tyre brand has to be, potentially, the most difficult thing to do. Look how often it happens in BSS when some go from Dunlop to Pirelli and vise verse. Leon Camier went from Dunlop to Pirelii in 2006 and went backwards, he was the current champ, too. You can make or brake you career by swapping rubber.
