One thing I notice and admire about Champions like Rossi and Michael Schumacher is their humble assessment of a situation and their gratitude towards the team. I hope both Rossi and Stoner recover before next test.

After being an impressive second fastest on only his second day with Bridgestone tyres, Valentino Rossi slipped to eleventh after a painful end to 2007 at Jerez on Thursday.

For 2008 let's all hope that Rossi's hand heals perfectly and that his new Yamaha is equal or better than everything else out there and of course first pick of the Bridgestones tyres. I can't wait for Vale to hold all the aces once more. What we want is a return to the close racing of yester-year that saw Vale dominating season after season.

Hello - hello Morgue,

first I will say that he will recover well. Soft tissue injuries are very unlikely to produce a permanent or longstanding issue and affect his riding as such.
have to be honest - once I saw it was a soft tissue problem ( in orthopaedics by soft tissue we mean anything other than bones and joints ) I wasnt really that interested so I even havent read the news properly - I just read about it skipping the lines. But what I'll do now - is go back and have a proper read.
As far as I remember there was not much info there ( they didnt mention parts of tissue involved like in Rossi's case )..but I'll go and check it out.

cheers

Got similar injuries from a bike crash 3 years ago - couple of broken metacarpels, carpels, thumb, wrist, elbow and collar bone. It took 4 months of physio just to get my fingers and wrist to bend properly - so I have first-hand (no pun intended!) experience of what he's going through and I have to give the guy credit for going out there when he doesn't have to. You don't feel it so much when riding because your brain is focused on other things, the pain really kicks in when you stop. Lots of strong pain killers and he should be OK.

Shoulder ligaments...i persume the ones involving the joint with the humerus, what else. I would say is related to his injury and op that was done in the past, as often those points are weak - they have healed and have lost the anatomical perfection with it. do you know what happened the first time? what did they operate on?
the rotator cuff in humans is a muscle tendon complex, but here they mention ligaments which are deeper structures, but of course related..so - have no idea. would have to know the details from the first op done cpl years ago and this one.
I believe the are connected - the lesions...

Hey Gina - How you doing girl? Good to see their letting you out of the padded cell a bit more often! (only joking) :) My medication and therapy appears to be doing the trick - not as angry anymore. Sounds like you know quite a bit of medical science so here's a soft-tissue injury for you to look up - Brachial Plexus, this one doesn't recover quite so well or quickly.

brachial plexus - what happened? maybe not appropriate to discuss medicine unless it involves motogp riders?

Apologies - It was a very poor joke anyway! - people are always stopping me and saying "please could I have your autograph Mr Depp". As for the BP injury - just another injury I got from crash but pleased to say that it's on the mend. Can't keep a good man down!
