One thing I notice and admire about Champions like Rossi and Michael Schumacher is their humble assessment of a situation and their gratitude towards the team. I hope both Rossi and Stoner recover before next test.

After being an impressive second fastest on only his second day with Bridgestone tyres, Valentino Rossi slipped to eleventh after a painful end to 2007 at Jerez on Thursday.

Twissta Throttle....Man!

I could't have put that better myself, I mean who in their right mind would just put up with being supplied with useless tools. Of course Rossi & the team are right to use the 07 M1 with the new tyre's, that way they can get a real good comparison.

waltzinmatilda,
I totaly disagree with your comments above, Capirossi admitted he just couldn't ride the bike like he could the old 990, how can someone who is used to riding a Honda be expected to compete with Stoner who has ridden the bike for a year & who has realy developed the bike, I would like to bet that sooner rather than later Melandri will be right up there.

can't wait fot Jan 22!

Agree - Nigel, you can just see it. Melandri rode under some amazing circumstances, injuries and I believe he can do some amazing stuff like that - and this is a big change for him - and a positive one. Instead of doing something hasty - he wants to learn and to learn properly you have to understand and get to know the bike on a very deep level. melandri is a deep person too - so I think it's very very good exactly what he is doing - not rushing anywhere. it's about undertanding the depth of the bike - not using it without respect and selfish expectations.
personally think melandri is thorough and that is how he is approaching the bike at the moment :) which is great!

What do you mean "get to know the bike on a deep level" he's paid to ride it not root it?
Some bike are easy to ride fast (Honda) and some are difficult to ride fast (Ducati).
Nigel...Do you relise you say Stoner delevoped the bike and CapiTrex did'nt? Dude thats Twilight Zone, Loris has been the longest Ducati number one rider.
Some peaple are (in the padock) saying Marco is struggling with the Ducati...no surprise, I mean Geez only one guy has masterd it why would that change overnight, keep it real or is that fuzzy maths or somthing.
Historicly only the few get the best of the best equipment say about 15% of the grid since when did 85% blackmail Dorna for better, NEVER until Rossi

Hey Gina and Nigel. I'm not trying to put down Capirossi or Malandri, I'm a big fan of both and I would put them in my top 5 riders along with Rossi, Stoner and Pedrosa. All I'm saying is I don't think the duke is that user-friendly and easy to ride. The bike was originally built for Capirossi as Stoner wasn't even on Ducati radar when development began, but for some reason he didn't gel with it. Malandri is fast as hell and my expectations were that he would go out and prove a point by trying to smoke Stoner from day 1. But Malindri is much wiser these days and the last thing he needs is to over-ride the bike, injure himself, lose confidence in the bike when there are no points at stake.

IT IS Stoner who is putting that ducati on the top boxs not the bike the lads got balls of iron . But its also true that Ped/Rossi had a bad bike/tyre year looks like Honda got there bike+tyre sorted now lets hope yamaha get there bike sorted and then we will see whos number 1.My opinion its going to be between Rossi and Stoner not Ped

I have a good feeling about Vale, he is brimming with confidence, team and tyres sorted,
Furusawa-san was there too, just hope his hand will heal properly and he'll be a force again next year :) :)
Bring on 2008!

Morgue,
Do you honestly expect me to beleive that Caparossi got to do much development work on the Ducati this year because if you do I don't think so so on this I will have to disagree with you for a change.

I know he may have done some early work with it but once he made up his mind to jump ship or once he had heard that ducati was ******* him off which i beleive Caparossi knew early on this season, & I doubt Ducati would have been giving him much to work with.

Anyway I beleive in we all have our own view on these things & that's my view & don't give a **** how many disagree with me I won't change my mind on it.

Normal service will be resumed shortly!

"get to know the bike on a deeper level " is a simple feminine expression that means melandri is not going to do exactly what matilda said just above.
as for stoner "developing" the ducati - what did he actually develop? im asking the ones that know..if there are any of those.
did he chose the design of his 2(00)7 number on it? what else?
personally dont think he knows either - things have happened and he had no idea to explain WHY was he winning. Qatar was a shock for stoner as much as is was a surprise for others. stoner used to say he couldnt believe that this is happening to him in the beginning of the season. so what was he developing then?
a simple question.

as for " some people ( in the paddock ) saying that melandri is struggling with the bike" ..who are these strangers? what are their names? some motogp spy agents?

or 27s imaginary friends? :-o thought that phenomenon is a 3-7y olds age group phase...
