One thing I notice and admire about Champions like Rossi and Michael Schumacher is their humble assessment of a situation and their gratitude towards the team. I hope both Rossi and Stoner recover before next test.

After being an impressive second fastest on only his second day with Bridgestone tyres, Valentino Rossi slipped to eleventh after a painful end to 2007 at Jerez on Thursday.

What I find ominous is that there are people here who state that he is using 'strange settings' and give that as a reason for him being upfront on the Ducati instead of Loris. If that is true they have had a year to collect them and now apply it on a new bike that is especially built for him. The fact that he has crashed it twice in the last test can mean he is on a very thin line,
you have to hand it to the guy, he is brave and puts full confidence into the machine, hope for hime they get the machine right.
As for Marco, he will get there I think, just a little more time ;)

The greatest most undeniable factor in his abillity to set up a bike is that he is consistently fastest first at every track, this year and last year.
Right out of the box Casey is the fastest rider becuase he has set up his bike with a indominable base setting that needs only tweeks while everyone else needs right up to the race out lap to finalise setup.

All straight forward fact, only the Looney will attempt to deny that peice of reality but thats OK cus those peaple believe Vale is still the champ.
Thanks for comming. :)

The big question is Ace what role he is getting at Ducati,
wether he is directing them in development or adjusting the thing that has been giving to them.
A good development rider knows how to formulate his wishes and steer the engineering process,
my guess is in his first year he has been giving valuable information about what has been given to him,
now we will see how it translates into a new machine. Do they give him enough room to actually
participate in that or is it more like 'Here boy, we've made this, try it'

Yes Ace27 the guy is quick right out of the box, that tells us that indeed the base settings on that Duke are very good indeed.

We Rossi fans don't beleive he's still the champ at all, what we do know is this, given the right tools to do the job Rossi will do it & I like Morgue beleive that if the M1 is any good this year we will surely see rosi back at the top, for sure Stoner is not gonna give up without a fight as he has earned the #1 spot fair & square.

Morgue, I had heard that the M1 07 bike was more powerful but they could'nt utilise it's full potential due to fuel concerns, I guess they may have to sort something out with the electronics to deal with that.

IS it that Stoner can just ride a bike fast while its kicking and bucking and that what make him fast from the off. looking at how Capo rode this year i think it got somethink to do with it ??? how about you lot

Yes that's true Nigel, the amount of fuel has been reduced with two liters to 21, causing a problem for the thirsty bikes.
Yamaha suffers from this, Ducati's Filippo Preziosi said too that their development is limited by it, read
http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/mcn/2007/november/nov26-30/motogpducatidesignerreveals2008targets/?&R=EPI-97208
However Ducati are using a setting in their engine management system that prevents the bike from running dry
by making it run more economical (and obviously less powerfull) while monitoring the fuel left in the tank.
