Simple answer! If you don't care don't read it! No one forced you to open it.....
I don't mind reading things like this as it shows the real talent some of these guys have. I was smart enough to tell you are a pom. Enough said.....

Nothing super about them at all, they are dinosaurs, relics of the past.
The 2 local manufacturers couldn't compete against the Japanese so they made the touring car championship into a Holden-Ford series. It's a series for the proletariat, certainly not for true racing fans of any creed.

Looks as though Chris won't get a gig for the sprint races,as he did run 16 laps of practice that should be enough laps for him to get up to speed, his lap times improved each lap so Britek may use him in the endurance events. "Whats so super about Super Cars" thats their name as they have no traction control, this is the reason some people call them Dinosaurs as the have no electronic help, not even air conditioning, its all seat of the pants ability, Rossi would love them.

Marty, I was just asking a question because I'm curious,
not everyone or everything has to be related to Rossi and covered by a sour sauce of envy.
So do these supercars ride on closed asphalt circuits and what is the speed/horsepower bracket they run in?
perhaps you could fill me in instead of petty attacks and bull**** remarks.

I like Vermeulen, he seems like a relaxed guy who has like Edwards and Toseland a kindness and positivity
that seems to come with former superbike riders :) :)

AFX, The way i see is Chris isn't injured so no harm there and it never interfered with any of the teams testing etc. I understand Rossi doing that rally wasn't much of an issue, but what if he had a little dingle? I don't know all the details, was the problem in his hand or wrist? If so a little hit into a wall or tree could do more damage to his injury. I like Rossi i just can't stand those that bag others because they aren't Rossi.
Morgue, The V8 "supercars have between 600 and 650hp, 1350Kg. The only comparison i can give you is from Mt Panorama. The best lap by a supercar is 2,06. The same year of that lap a BMW GTR M3 done about a 2,14. It was detuned a tiny bit though.

They may be dinosaurs, but there isn't the same kind of money in sport here in Aus. So they are very controlled, no real super technology. Plain old pushrod 5L V8 and a road going car shell. So for what they are they get along ok, top speed around 300kph. Limited by gearing. Its good close racing, top 20 seperated by less than a second on some tracks. Not sure if they have done it or not but there was talk of a salery cap of around $9 million Aus per year. Look good, Sound Good, close racing never know who will win until the race is over, Works good why change it! Next year the H pattern gear box is gone for a sequential box. Some driver like the idea others hate it!

Morgue; The V8 SuperCars race in China, Bahrain, New Zealand, Eastern Creek, Phillip Island, plus most tracks in Australia wide they lap the Island around 1.34 compared to MotoGp 1.31 they have a 6 speed gearbox top speed depending on track 290+KPH and Trent specs are right for the rest. When Wayne Gardiner retired from MotoGp he drove them for many years in the same forceful way he rode MotoGp, Beattie and Sheene have had non competitive runs in them.

around 300 kph is not bad,
they use sequential gearboxes in WRC too, with the high dashboardmounted lever next to the steering wheel,
very neat, a bit motorbike-like to shift that way ;)
Using 'paddles' as shifters behind the steering wheel is perhaps even quicker...
Gardner, Sheene, Beattie... just goes to show these guys have a need for speed, doesn't it? ;)

Some drivers think the sequetial box will be slower. Not sure of the reasons but i guess we'll find next year! Some teams are undecided if they will use it or keep the H pattern.
