Stoner with the #1 plate is questionable. Yes he deserves it for the truly incredible season that he had and should use it for the testing sessions, but having it for the 2008 season will make him look foolish as he will NOT win the championship, just ask Hayden.

It's amazing guys

We have this bitter and twisted Rossi fan who also posts under another alias of morgue, who bags out the current world champion. Nice to see "IT" can debate the merits of GP and it riders without becoming personal. Guys, she has no idea about GP and is simply a bitter Rossi fan. I think she should be treated with the comptent she deserves.

"IT" is just a simple Rossi groupie with NFI, and very bitter about an Australian flogging the best england have yet again.

Hello Gina - Personally I don't really care what number any of the riders use, they could draw them out of the hat before each race for me. Logically it would make sense for the rider to use the position they finished the championship in as their number but really I don't care if Stoner uses #1 #27 or pi to 12 decimal places. Only numbers I really care about are the ones in front of the decimal point on my salary, and important dates.
Only joined in the thread because I was interested in the Team KR tangent, not a massive fan of the riders but KR snr is a hero of mine and I would like to see him do well.

The numbers used to be a reflection of the standings in the previous season. That was comforting for the newcomers to the sport as it was a way of seeing if the frontrunners were 'known' fast guys and/or if they were improving.
This is especially important if you stand at the side of a track and watch them wizz past, on tv it's easier.
Casey's number 1 is in keeping with the old system (and with Schwantz's tradition to only change it if he becomes champ)
but fro the rest the whole system has gone to the dogs,
De Angelis running #3 or Dovi #4 is ridicilous as they haven't achieved nought in the top class yet.

Hello matilda..i know. the number is not important. its all negative energy and im becoming a part of it again. im thinking about it and its useless to be negative - so thanks for reminding me to what we went through and im grateful for it. :)
i personally hope the same for KR sen - to me making a difference is something i respect and i see all the work put in that purpose by him.

Casey Stoner is useing the #1 plate because he has earned the right to do so by winning the world championship. All rider should wear the number of the position they finished in the championship, Rossi has no automatic right to the #46, he and all other rider have to ask permission to use a personal number, same for the #7, whoever finished 7th in the championship should have the right to use it. Read the rulebook if you dont believe me
