are we all so lobotomised in thinking that youth is all that counts ? Do artists have to stop painting, or making music just cos they are 28 ? Why can't riders saty for as long as they feel fit enough to do so ? isn't troy bayliss still able to kick most riders, even if aged 38 ? Didn't he win a MotoGP race at 36 ?
It's only the media circus that wants you to believe a champ is out when older than 26...

BTW. I do feel that Rossi is the best at what he does and feel he has another Championship in him.

Marty Cowan,
let's get real shall we.

Put Rossi & Stoner on the same bike without TC & you will see who is the best.

Mcoy was simply amazing at sliding the bike into corners, followed very closely by Rossi, now that was all skill & we all remember just how breathtaking it was to watch.

Give them back control & well see some real racing & I guess something we have not felt for so damn long, our hearts thumping cus the friggin racing is close, this is what we want!

All your talk of us clown groupies etc, call us what you want slating Stoner is total boll**k's. The true facts are most of us on here fully respect all Riders & Stoner deserves full credit.

I notice that attendance at MotoGP races last year increased substantially over 2006. 2006 was a big increase over 2005. Interesting that Stoner was well in front all year and won most of the races. Does this put to rest the myth that without Rossi winning races MotoGP is dead!
Maybe the young pretenders are the real draw card. If attendance is up again this year with Jorgo, Dovi, De Angelis and Tousland then this will be a clear signal that new blood is what drives attendance.

Was reading the interview with Rossi in MCN today. Even though he might not stay 5 years, nice to know he's sticking with Yamaha. Even more interesting interview with Hayden. I didn't used to care for that guy but damn he's grown on me. Notice how once he turned down the traction control this season he suddenly did better (and looked far more exciting).

To many of us, all we really want next year is to see the kind of racing we saw in 2004-2006... whilst Rossi won most of the 1st 2 years racing, it was still edge-of-you-seat exciting to watch... Next year Stoner is obviously the tallent to beat, but I don't think it will be quite so easy for him. Of the rookies, my money is on Dovi...

Parker, if Rossi had quit this year do you think the viewing figures would rise? WAKE UP! I ain't what you patronisingly call a "Rossi Groupie", but I DO appreciate the impact he has had on MotoGP... Have been reading your posts and you really do hate the guy! LOL... Do you lose sleep over him?

I think if you ask anyone in the know in Motogp the majority of fans at race weekends at Motogp are Rossi fans.

Sorry you rossi haters but that's the way it is! :p :p :p :p :p

Good point Parker. It could also be that people want to see if Rossi can fight back (no bias here, just a different angle). Judging by the emotion expressed here, there is a fair bit of anticipation from all sides for next year. I think the majority want to see epic battles, of course it's better if their hero wins, but a good scrap is what makes bike racing

AFX,
You are quite wrong. I have been a Rossi fan his whole career. I have also been a Stoner fan his whole career. But bigger than that I have been a GP fan my whole adult life (I am 37). I rarely ever put Rossi down other than to say that I think mentally he has lost something and I have also quoted that I think he can get it back quickly. What I HATE is Rossi fans that continuously run down Stoner and devalue everything he did to win the WC. Almost every comment I have made that you refer to is arguing against the BS that Rossi fans post. Unfortunately Rossi Groupies weren't and aren't GP fans. My point above is that MotoGP is bigger than 1 man, always has been and always will be.

cont.
I add that I believe that Rossi is one of the best motorcycle racers of all time. Not the best but one of the best.He is the best showman of the modern era which is what has drawn out all the groupies.
I have also said all along that Rossi has always had the best equipment his manufacturer has had compared to other riders of that manufacture be it tyres, bike, shocks what ever. His first 'MotoGP' championship was won against a field of 500cc bikes when he was on a 990cc. And yet groupies suggest that Stoner only wins because he is on the best bike.
Rarely is there logic to a groupies arguement and this pisses real fans off. Hence we have so much negativity on this and other forums.
