It needs to be done , the sport needs to return to the skill of the rider and not the skills of the electronics department to master the machine . Maybe a standard ecu is not the answer , but a ban on all electronic rider aids would be (traction control , anti-wheely ect ).Mr Ezpeleta is right to say this , otherwise we are going to end up with a show like F1 or no show in there case . MOTOGP » Control electronics?

MotoGP may have narrowly avoided the introduction of a control tyre rule for 2008, but Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta has revealed that 'control electronics' could be on the horizon.

No electronic aids at all.... Open tyre rule...let the rider be the deciding influence not the complexity of the on board software / hardware. It''s becoming a software engineers GP let them play on PS3''s or X''boxes and leave sport alone.

Not my favourite idea but I hate rider aids like traction control. I watch for the riders more than the bikes so if this is a way to get Traction control out I''m OK with it.

They should ban the traction control. Suspension, Engine, Chasiss, Tyres - let the teams choose whatever they want.

this is a must for motogp, its now all about electronics and tyres and has to change. traction control and launch control are enabling riders to jump straight on these bikes and go fast from the off and should be banned so its all about rider skill. i aree that these bikes need advanced electronics to control there drivability but should stop there. bring back 990,s without traction control and restore motogp as the best motorsport in the world.

Its simple -

less electronics = more exciting racing based on rider skill - which is what we all want - isnt it???

Wonder what the paddock has to say about this?

My guess - Rossi would be delighted - others less so!

Perhaps Ezpeleta is using double talk what he could mean by a control ECU,,,,, Every Component Until,,,,, Rossi wins :) :)

Lots of people say they want 500 era racing back but few people actually remember what that was like. For one, there were a lot more crashes, and a lot more riders getting badly injured. Plenty of championships were decided in the hospital rather than on track.

The other thing about the 500 era is that there were usually only a few guys who could run at the front. The margins of victory tended to be pretty large in fact. If you ban traction control you're going to see even less close racing than what you're seeing now.

Notice that no one was complaining about TC in 2006 when we had a great season. Its just that this year the tires and 800 cc rule resulted in a runaway by Stoner.
